Bliss!

I can recapture that magic moment in time when all bands came from the Pacific Northwest and fronted grotty young mopers stylisticly aping Cher's Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves.

I will pay a great deal of money for tickets to the nearest show.

Good thing Velvet Revolver kicked him out three days ago.

Glad I saw them in '96, before Scott went completely down hill. I'll just listen to Purple again and call it good.

He left to rejoin STP almost 2 weeks ago.

Core was the first album I ever bought with my own money. Well, outside of crap like The Simpsons Sing The Blues and TMNT: Coming Out Of Their Shells.

I will be there come hell or high water.

Dude seriously WTF 2008-04-04 11:48:36 AM
Love STP (before Scott got all pussified from too much H) and hope he keeps it together over the summer. STP is one of the headliners for Virginfest and I am pretty psyched to get out again this year. woot!

STP is performing at Carb Day this year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; only $10 for admission. The event is also BYOB as Carb Day is every year.

Somewhere, in the depths of a moving box at my parents' house, there is an old STP shirt I wore in 7th grade. Now I must find it.

Still have Core and Purple in the CD carrier thingee in my car.

The last time I saw them was for free on the Nissan Z tour. They had the bullhorn and everything.

Yeah, Core was basically my first real rock/alternative album for me. Quickly turned me onto so much more.

I will be there.

STP this summer: Check

When I was in high school, STP toured with Queensryche (1993?). I reviewed their concert at the Jones Beach Amphitheater (NY) for my school newspaper, and concluded that they would probably become a huge hit. Awesome show. I used to play Plush on repeat.

I've liked all of Scott's projects. Really hope a new album will be out.

Core sucks ass, I think. One big derivative pile of poo, almost as boring as Knicklback, but a lot less stupid. All but a few songs were turds in there day, and the album didn't age well.

Purple, on the other, is GREAT. The song "the big empty" convinced me that they weren't just "clone temple pirates", but that they had their own style. Tiny Music, with the song "Big Bang Baby" and "Lady Picture Show" was even better. By the time I heard "Down" and "Sour Girl", from No. 4, you go "oh yeah, he sounds like Scott Wieland." I liked Shangri La Dee Da, too, perhaps "Hollywood biatch" and "Dumb Love" stick out to me. But a lot of the tracks didn't quite work (like some of the tracks on "Tiny Music" are just too noodlely and don't work...)

Anyway, yeah, STP is good band. Post CORE.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Pearl Jam Lite. But not bad. Hopefully Weiland can stay "healthy" until a show close to me.

If cheap enough, I'll go

/shelled out $130 for 2 YES tickets in the cheap seats last night to make the missus happy.
//Expensive concerts where you gotta watch Jumbovision SUCK.
///BRING BACK FESTIVAL SEATING! (I'd walk over you to see the Who)
////extra slashies

I'd go to that show if it came to my town.

In other words, Scott looked at what they could charge for a Velvet Revolver show, and what they could charge for an STP reunion show, and realized adding "reunion" gets you twice the gate.

The big question is, will we get a Velvet Revolver "reunion" tour next year?

jj325: Pearl Jam Lite. But not bad. Hopefully Weiland can stay "healthy" until a show close to me.

Little known fact.

STP was active on the San Diego music scene before Eddie Vedder was part of what became Pearl Jam. In fact, guess which city Eddie was in at the time STP was developing their sound. I'll give you a hint: it wasn't Seattle.

A few years back Rolling Stone did a piece on how Eddie the "anti-star" had done more to become a celebrity than just about anyone you could name, and part of what they concluded was that Eddie liked what he saw from STP and ripped it off.

/wasn't there, so I can't confirm
//Eddie Vedder is still a dick

Good to know. Not a huge PJ fan, but always went with the conventional wisdom that STP ripped them off.
My respect for STP rises

I would care more about this tour if Weiland could still sing.

I can't imagine he'll ever sound anything like he did on Core or Purple, ever again.

Yes!! Can't wait for this. Carb day is an annual event for me and my buddies. Boobies, beer, and a concert....what more can a farker ask for? Its especially good when there's a good band like STP.
