That EML ElectroComp 500 is what made the whip crack in "Whip It", BTW.

Wow. His basement is pretty much the Smithsonian of electronic music.

When they were talking about no amps on stage, only Pods...
pretty much why I went to a Digitech RP350 this year. Sure, a real power amp tube overdrive sounds incredible, but only at specific volumes, and its not often you can run your rig that loud. So sounding almost perfect at any volume is fair tradeoff. Plus the ability to create the correct effects chain order ( reverb, vibrato, tremolo AFTER the overdrive ) more than makes up for no amps.

Holy shiat that was Raymond Scott's Electronium.

What I would give for a good peek inside that thing...

I'm just getting ready to play out live again after a number of years, and in the meantime I got a POD XT Live. I've been going through an amp in practice, but do you have any tips as far as going ampless onstage with something like this? Or does anyone else have experience with this sort of thing?

As far as his work in film goes, this is by far my favorite. Wes Anderson and Mark Mothersbaugh are a perfect match for one another.

I haven't played live with it yet, but as long as you have a good sound man, running straight to the board should be perfect, probably sound a lot better than running through an amp, since the amplification is cleaner. Line 6 has a great forum on their website, I'm sure you can find all your answers there.

I got one on ebay for around 10 bucks. It sounds cool.

Is it so much to ask for lighting, color and TWO microphones for those guys? For two dudes that know about gear what they were using was pitiful.

It's a mess of point-to-point connections! a good peek? Fark that, you need a full calendar year (with room and board provided) just to wrap your head around it.

/TapeOp had a decent little write-up about it. I bet he put the DooWah in for Gordon Berry...

I've got an X3Live and I've found that plugging it right into a powered monitor sounds fantastic. For $300 I picked up a monitor that's louder than my combo amp, smaller, lighter, and can be angled to point right at my head. I highly recommend it.

My experience: if you have a good PA, good FOH man and a separate monitor mix it can be great...

...without those things you'll be jamming like The Helen Keller Experience.

I have a Vetta II combo, so I can do either, but always prefer to push the air for whatever reason. This way no farker can turn me down!

How much is she?

I met him about five years ago and bought one of his framed art pieces in the thriving metropolis that is Raleigh, NC.

He was really down to Earth and friendly with everybody and proudly wore a "Sexy Senior Citizen" button.

The art was a bargain at $666.66!
