Can we raise the voting age to 21, or implement an intelligence test before you register?

recently, everything might have seemed like one sweet world to the clinton campaign, but while they were trying to seek up the nomination, they couldn't find enough people to say "i'll back you up".

now, it seems that there is no rhyme and reason to their campaign. what would you say? they definitely don't seem to be the best of what's around. democrats are going to the polls to vote for obama like ants marching, while the clintons flounder like a couple of dancing nancies.

one thing is for sure, this definitely isn't a typical situation. the american voter seems to have decided that the clintons will only let you down until we lie in our graves, and only someone who is tripping billies would vote for them. no, we'd rather cry freedom.

some are saying hillary should concede. obama says she can stay (though she just might be wasting time). either way, it's only a matter of time before her campaign is going to crash.

in the meantime, she seems content to sit in the dreaming tree, while she spends too much, seemingly unaware that you pay for what you get. she has so much to say, but all the voters want is for her to say goodbye.

/yes, i'm bored

Why would they do that to those poor kids?

Dave Matthews, when asked for comment, responded "Bee-bop-do-waaaaaaah-be-boooooo...Obama for president."

Anyone know why Hillary Clinton is still in it?

Is she trying to be the Democrat version of Ron Paul?

FTA: "I was leaning toward Obama, but this sealed the deal for sure," he said. "The Obama campaign announced this right as (Bill Clinton) was about to speak, and it brought everyone from over there to over here."

It amuses me how blatant their attempts at vote-buying are. Why are we as a nation so naïve as to vote ourselves largess from the public purse?

I'm an ardent Obama supporter, but I'm a little wary of this whole "giving away concert tickets" thing. Anyone have any more info on that?

Also, Dave Matthews sucks.

rmoose: Can we raise the voting age to 21, or implement an intelligence test before you register?

Since I will be turning 21 6 days before the general election, and my vote can't be bought with concert tickets, I would support this.

They might as well just give away t-shirts with "wacky" slogans on them - works for FirstUSA BankOne Chase.

from the left side of the column:

» Sunday: Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds hold a voter-registration concert for Obama, 7 p.m., Assembly Hall, Indiana University, Bloomington. Tickets are free to Indiana residents and in-state students but must be obtained at an Obama office in Indianapolis, Bloomington or Lafayette. The tickets are available first-come, first-served at Obama's Indianapolis office, 2 N. Meridian St., 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today.

So its actually Tim Reynolds and Dave Matthews doing a free concert as a show of their support for Obama. Maybe thats a technicality, but it is slightly different from saying "hey I'll give you a $55 concert ticket if you vote for me"

Well, not exactly. Hillary's tickets you have to pay for, which makes it more of a traditional high-dollar fund raiser. Giving away tickets to college kids is different.

When two candidates are very similar on policy position, which arguably Obama and Clinton are agreed on most policy positions. There are differences between the way that each is going to implement their policies, which is what has been attracting policy wonks to Obama. But most voters do not bother digging into the arcane workings of policy they simply know which side of a batch of issues they are on. For those voters when split between two candidates of equal worth policy-wise there are only two ways of winning them; destroy your opponent with negative campaigning, or win them over with cool free stuff.

If Hillary had the funds to afford a couple thousand Dave Matthew's Band tickets she would probably do the same thing.

wasn't saying it's exactly the same, but she's also using a musician to aid her campaign.

what about if they promised me a tax rebate? that's what Bush gave me.(although he cost me more in the long run it sure did sound good at the beginning) if the value of the bribe goes up does it make the bribe more valid and the lured voter more intelligent?

Dave Matthews has got to be the most self-absorbed jerk in the history of humankind. Which I can't understand, because "his" music sucks so bad, even Olly would say it's worse than Bjork.

I sure wish we would. It is far too easy to vote already. America needs INFORMED votes, not just any vote. Sitting on the couch watching pop TV for 3.99 years and then hauling our fat asses to the oversized voting booths on election day isn't helpful to America.

Maybe a basic math test... Just really really basic math, like addition and subtraction even...

I thought Obama was the candidate who was IN TOUCH with young voters. Dave Freakin Matthews???
