Damn! I was hoping it would be something cool from the early 70s, like "Homegrown".

He can do more with one note than a lot of people can do with twelve (there are only twelve, you know)

Ah, Yes, Neil Young, inventor of the single note guitar solo, way back in Buffalo Springfield!

Be honest, it's a one string solo.

I thought the first one note guitar solo was The Who's "I Can See For Miles".

Find the original Chrome Dreams, nice album. Different take on Powderfinger.

And "Time Fades Away" still languishes in out-of-print purgatory. Bleh.

I stand corrected, a one string guitar solo. On another matter, I believe Buffalo Springfield predates "I can see for miles" by a few years! Buffalo Springfield's first album was released in 1966 and the Who album with "I can see for miles" was released in 1967, according to Wikipedia.

Awesome version of Powderfinger. The version of Sedan Delivery from the Chrome Dreams boot is fantastic as well.

The Who released "I Can See For Miles" on October 14th, 1967

Buffalo Springfield "Mr. Soul" (which I assume is the song in question) was released November 11th, 1967.

if you count sharps and flats sure.
otherwise seven
and he uses more than one note, if you count the 1/4 to 1/2 bend he throws in there.
it's not his solo that has become an issue, it's the damn songs he writes. that 911 garbage was AWFUL! he was touting that fact that he made it in such a short amount of time, should have taken longer.

silver and gold is the best album he has put out in the last 15 years or so and they were mostly 30 year old songs so hat does that say?

Goddammit, Shakey, where's that box set? You just keep farking with us.

He's had at least 2 different websites announcing it's release. The Mayan calender will end before we see that sucker.

Living With War was the best album he's put out since the 80s. Sorry, but it was. And you can't compare him against today's musicians. You have to compare him against the Paul McCarneys and Pete Townsends of the music world, who really are all washed up relics. Springsteen is the only musician of comparable age still floating around and making semi-relevant music from approximately that era (though Bruce is more a late 70s musician). Remember, NY's first hit single (wish Springfield)was in the mid 1960s.

its easier to rape and strangle 1 note than it is 12.

The one string solo in Cinnamon Girl is one of the greatest recorded solos ever.

Rules.

At least the Maya could stick to a single date.
