So I guess the new trend on the show is, instead of doing covers, they do cover versions of someone else's covers? I haven't been watching Idol. This is the third or fourth story I've read about this happening in the past month or so.

farking A. Unlike when Chris Daughtry ripped off Live and gave zero credit, at least with David Cook they've publicly stated who arranged the cover this year.

So, it's a singing competition based on covers. David Cook picks good covers (even if they are covers of covers).

"My fans were like, Wait a minute! That's Chris Cornell's moment."

I count myself as a Chris Cornell fan (well when he was not a solo artist) and I hope his fans aren't deaf enough to miss the credit that they gave... twice.

I just made the mistake of listening to Cornell's version of this song. I must now go wash my ears thoroughly with some Soundgarden. I feel so dir...scratch that, I feel so clean. I need some dirty after that.

Don't forget some Screaming Trees.

Every single performance of David Cook has been a cover of a cover. There have been other covers of covers but he does it all the time. I'm not necessarily opposed to covers of covers but David Cook is an enormous douchebag because he (a) doesn't give credit when credit is due on all occasions and (b) he does it all the time.

Cook's arrangement of Eleanor Rigby was completely identical to Doxology's version. Credit was not given during the show. Apparently today credit was given, but it is still unethical and dishonest to plagiarize and not give credit until not doing so would cause a major outcry and loss of credibility. The giving of credit today was a farce; it was obviously staged so that it downplayed seriousness of plagiarism, making the whole thing virtually invisible to those who were not aware of the controversy beforehand.

I personally can't stand this season anymore. Everyone bores the crap out of me.

I'll grant you that one. But, he's just so terrible sometimes.

I far prefer his solo stuff to Audioslave. But not to Soundgarden or Temple Of The Dog.

Yes, you can. Arrangements are copyrightable. Idiot.

i am still perplexed by his collaboration with Timbaland for his next album. are these songs gonna be played at the hip-hop meat market clubs? are people gonna freak to this stuff?

Uber_Controller 2008-04-02 10:27:06 AM
saw cornell live at a big music festival in my home town just last monday. was worried that he'd only do solo stuff, but was pleasantly surprised when his set comprised of mostly soundgarden, audioslave and temple o/t dog stuff. Great backing band; but his vocals are pretty thin and his energy lacking. and he wore a blazer.

/got off his lawn

barneyfifesbullet 2008-04-02 11:01:26 AM
Chris Cornell sucks for breaking up Soundgarden by trying to turn them into R.E.M. or Smashing Pumpkins.

but his vocals are pretty thin and his energy lacking.

His voice was always thin, but it sounded huge with Soundgarden behind it.

Singles > Soundgarden > Temple of the Dog > Solo stuff > Audioslave

duh

I also think he's extremely handsome.

Pearl Jam > Screaming Trees > Mudhoney > Soundgarden > Silverchair > STP > Audioslave > Melvins (sorry Melvins) > Temple of the Dog > Mark Lanegan solo > Chris Cornell solo > Eddie Vedder solo

I want to put Pearl Jam lower, but I simply can't anymore.

David Cook said on American Idol that he finds the arrangements on the internet and gave credit to those who arranged them. He did not try to take any credit for any of the arrangements.

He did take credit for last night's arrangement of some random Dolly Parton song. It sounded pretty good, but he's no Dolly Parton.

Cornell can't sing anymore. He has become a whiner like Robert Plant. A shadow of his former voice.

euphoria morning is as good or better than any soundgarden record. if you think his solo stuff sucks and you like audioslave-you are very stupid and shouldnt be listening to music.

AdolfOliverPanties: Cornell can't sing anymore. He has become a whiner like Robert Plant. A shadow of his former voice.

robert plant? id be interested in hearing one instance of chris cornell sounding like robert plant.

barneyfifesbullet: His voice was always thin, but it sounded huge with Soundgarden behind it.

either you have never heard chris cornell sing before, or you have some defect that prevents you from accurately describing things of a musical nature. your comment is the same as saying,'buckethead cant play guitar anymore, he sounds like kirk hammett now'. or 'black sabbath was always smooth adult contemporary, they just sounded heavy because of the production.

Cornell's solo records are for pussies, so I'm not surprised you like them.
