Really? Was more shocked he made it to a second album with that group.

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 08:28:51 PM
damn, sorry to hear it.
saw them live once, back in 2004, damn fine live band.

DeCypher44 [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 08:32:14 PM
Saw them live, too. They were great, but I can't stand Weiland. I just hope the replacement is good.

TDUsGamer 2008-04-01 08:35:29 PM
I'm absolutely certain this has nothing to do with his Stone Temple Pilots summer tour.

/though I did hear that Weiland is kind of a dick

PerfectlyCromulent 2008-04-01 08:38:03 PM
Something tells me this is an April Fool's joke, but if not, that sucks. They were nowhere near as good as STP or GnR, but I still liked them.

/am I the only one here who liked Libertad?

ericbo84 2008-04-01 08:39:59 PM
Subby here, I didn't use the Sad tad, if I recall I used amusing or spiffy... I like VR, don't care for Weiland

This. I can't help but hope that this is the first sign of the ultimate reformation of Guns N' Roses, but I know it'll never happen. Axl's too big of a douche. Hopefully they can get a singer worthy of the rest of the band.

unknown host 2008-04-01 08:44:11 PM
When the members of Gun's n' Roses (the real band, not the cover band led by Axl Rose) kick you out because your "dependency issues" are causing problems, then you've got an EPIC level addiction going there. Seriously, that's like Amy Winehouse ditching you because she thinks you're a drunken skank.

Decent band though.

Zombine 2008-04-01 08:47:35 PM
Wait, its a youtube video, but there was no RickRoll. I'm confused....

Bhasayate [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 08:47:52 PM
They had like one or two good songs, I think, other than the covers on the bonus disc you got if you bought it at Best Buy, one of which is the best ever: their remake of Cheap Trick's "Surrender." Hell, for that song alone, I was glad to buy the full CD.

This calls for an IRRELEVANT or WHO GIVES A FARK tag.

As long as Lou Reed is still in who cares

The Ghost of Freedom 2008-04-01 08:56:54 PM
Smart decision. They were at a concert I went to a while back and were an hour and a half late getting on stage because of him. Thankfully, I'd already seen the bands I'd wanted to see so I didn't have to stick around after the first song or two, which sucked anyway considering I could barely hear Weiland as he was almost inaudible.

xdedd 2008-04-01 09:00:52 PM
Slash was shooting up Oxycontin while recording and touring for Contraband, so for him to say the breakup was due to Weiland's erratic behavior then it must have been some pretty farkin erratic behavior.

Please please please dump Dave and bring in Izzy. You guys don't need a lead singer. Izzy and Duff can take turns singing.

Wrong_Intentions 2008-04-01 09:02:19 PM
How 'bout replacing him with this guy?

/Actually, kina sad about this news.
//loves STP, though

I love STP. Have seen them numerous times (in the 90s) and Scott always put on a great show. So I'm confused as to how Scott could be so bad that SLASH et al want to dump him.

Gunny Highway 2008-04-01 09:14:21 PM
This doesnt have anything to do with booting heroin? Color me surprised.

therefore, Velvet Revolver gives talent the boot

Same thing happened to the real Guns N Roses with the original drummer, Steve Adler. That situation was probably even worse because every member of the original GnR was farked up on drugs at the time, making being kicked out for drug use an even bigger embarrassment. As far as I know the other guys in Velvet Revolver are relatively clean* so are probably less likely to put up with nearly as much shiat.

Slash for instance has a defibrillator installed in his heart and Duff has already had a stroke, no shiat.

vdantev 2008-04-01 09:36:02 PM
The stupid self-important dick announced onstage,'This is a great moment in music history folks, because you are seeing the last tour of Velvet Revolver.' to the surprise of band-mates. But to his credit, it was the last tour- for him.

Give this guy a call, let him and Duff split the vocals, and ignore the self-parody that Axl's become. So crazy that it just might work.

Farkomatic 2008-04-01 09:38:22 PM
Maybe this will be the next Rockstar TV show...that would be cool.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 09:39:58 PM
Oxycontin? Slash? What's next, Keith Richards getting hooked on Pez?

GimpyNip 2008-04-01 09:40:05 PM
pmg, if Revolver got Avril as their singer, I would be so FARKING PSYCHED!

Mugato:

Adler's the one who had the stroke. Duff had pancreatitis.

You know what would bring all of this to a complete circle? The new singer for Velvet Revolver: Chris Cornell.

Bauer [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 09:54:06 PM
who the fark cares.

where are the great "protest the war" songs that should have dominated the airwaves?

-a generation of sell out pussies, imo.

eight years of bush bullshiat and we get nothing.

except, maybe..."american idiot".

ok...so there's that.

Hmm. Well he defiitely looks ad talks like he had a stroke. Oh well.

Bauer [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 09:56:30 PM
chris cornell.

"this"...and that.

and they must write angry, farking war tunes...or else!

mrchowwow: You know what would bring all of this to a complete circle? The new singer for Velvet Revolver: Chris Cornell.

Cornell's voice is wrong for this, IMHO.

It wouldn't happen in a million years, but how farking awesome would a Dave-Grohl led Revolver sound?

GimpyNip 2008-04-01 10:00:32 PM
What, a generation of 'sel ut pusies' and in ze sam breaz yu mention Gren Day's Amerisan Idiot? Like, ze sam song zat plays over and over again in numerus video games, insluding Madden 05? Zat song? Zat song susks.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 10:00:55 PM
Bauer: where are the great "protest the war" songs that should have dominated the airwaves?

Maybe because everyone under 40 recognizes how obnoxious and useless the hippies were with their war protest songs.

jj325 [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 10:03:00 PM
Another vote for calling Izzy. Damn fine writer/musician. GnR without the Axl drama. I would look forward to that.

Bah - Grohl can't sing and they don't need a drummer. Cornell would be awesome.

I feel like we're overlooking the good part - that STP is going on tour!

/not a rickroll

He should join Stone Temple Pilots, he would be perfect!

And Axel Rose should join Velvet Revolver, that would totally rock.

Gyrfalcon [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 10:36:22 PM
Wow, that is some epic level of addiction. Most of VR were the leading edge of the zombie apocalypse on a good day already. Did they make sure Weiland was alive before they kicked him out?

Someone shoot Axl Rose before he gets any ideas.

Jim Morrison's Corpse 2008-04-01 10:49:59 PM
It's a damn shame that Sebastian Bach doesn't get along with Slash et al and got all buddy buddy with Axl.

Seriously. VR with Sebastian on vocals? Epic.

/puts on some hairspray

like shiat. Grohl's voice is not his strong suit.

I clicked on this thread specifically to say the same thing.

Ever notice how GnR quit recording original (non-cover) music right after Izzy left the band?

skylabdown 2008-04-01 11:00:19 PM
How about Matthew Sweet as the new lead singer?

/it. just. might. work.

Mike Patton was offere the spot before Weilan was, but knocke it back. Woul have been interesting, at least.

colatf: Mike Patton was offere the spot before Weilan was, but knocke it back. Woul have been interesting, at least.

Yeah, he was playing around with the Peeping Tom album during that time. I frankly don't blame him. General Patton can get by just fine on his own.

Sabyen91 [TotalFark] 2008-04-01 11:16:28 PM
Geoff Tate needs work. Mike Patton would be great, too.
