What a heartbreaker. I'm dazed and confused by this communication breakdown.

It's always good times, bad times in rock and roll.

So there really *is* a stairway to heaven?

/Robert's voice is far more suited for the Plant/Krauss tour, me thinks.

WTF??? I was in the April Fool's stunt thread a second ago....

Hey Chelsea, when being asked whether your mom's credibility is hurt by Daddy's affair, they really want to know about Mom's credibility not whether or not she's a stupid coont fer staying with the asshat.

OK, bad enough they stage one ripping show for 20K lucky sods and VIPs then refuse to do a proper tour (like anyone wants to see you sing country songs, Robert), but they have the tape in the farking can, let the rest of us see it you farking assholes.

I had high hopes of seeing them on their never-happened-because-Bonham-was-a-dumbass-choking-on-vomit -drunk US 1980 tour, and here we are again: Zep being a bunch of spiteful assholes for no damn reason.

Piss off assholes, I'm off to download your entire catalog for free, you'll never see another farking dime from this lifetime fan.

Do us a favor and die, maybe your heirs will appreciate the fans that made you filthy rich enough to release the show on DVD.

TommyBahama 2008-04-01 05:40:01 AM
was the show really that bad? are they worried if people see the DVD they will realize that we do not want them to tor and rin the Zep legacy?

I thought that was their legacy! I know their manager was a total jerkwad.

You can download the audience shot bootleg of this off of just about any torrent site. I have it....the show was totally underwhelming. The band is tuned down to D because Plant can't hit the notes anymore so the songs don't sound like what you would expect. I was not impressed, but then again, I think Zeppelin is a massively overrated band as well.

I've had a copy of the audio recording since January, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

Geeze Jimmy, You Shook Me... How Many More Times do I have to have my hopes dashed by you? It is really depressing. I was hoping to pick up a copy of this DVD and Bring It On Home, but alas you will not allow it (yet). Ever Since I"ve Been Loving You I have hoped to see your geriatric rocking! I am considering Goint To California where I here that this DVD is available in a bootleg copy made by Rerun (it icludes the sounds of him eating popcorn). Some people say that seeing your ancient asses out there rocking out is What Is And What Should Never Be but I don't believe them. Well, I am gonna take my sorrow Down By The Seaside where I can be Sick Again in peace.

Actually, smartass, I downloaded it because I was curious to hear how they sounded, and because I have a friend who is a Zep freak and I thought he might like it. He finds me rare Black Sabbath stuff, I find him Zep stuff. It's a friend thing.

And obviously you can't search for Black Sabbath on torrent websites and your friend is incapable of searching for Led Zeppelin.

Yes, Led Zeppelin are assholes, but when people say they're overrated it just pisses me off. Overrated by who?

The only "overrated" song of theirs would have to be "Stairway to Heaven" other than that the masses really don't know their other works.

Tis true. I have a number of 70's Zep bootlegs and they are filled with creaky vocals and sloppy guitar playing. There is a pro-shot concert video from the Seattle Kingdom from the 1977 tour that is absolutely awful.

My Zep fan friends rave about how they used to do three hour concerts! Three hours of crummy music isn't impressive. Those "Moby Dick" drum solos are especially hard to stomach.

You're doing it wrong! You aren't supposed to watch/listen to it sober. It's an incredible three hours if you are impaired.

Perhaps "overrated" wasn't the term I should have used. I'm thinking "overplayed" might be more appropriate.

Dude, the Zeppelin you want is gone. It was great. It is still great. But it's gone. It's great that the band stopped as a living entity when Bonham died. I wish other bands, you know Who, would stop after a band member passed on. And Zep did not become like other groups who are Rolling around like a bunch of Stones, even though the rough edges have long worn smooth.

Robert has made an amazing turn around from being "The Golden God" to person with an amazing sense of self-awareness. Here are a few quotes from interviews he has done recently:

"I can't stand the idea of having once been a firebrand whirling vortex and then give it up for mediocrity and just paddle along through middle age going, "Hey, well, this is what we did." I want to be out there trying things out all the time forever." -Spinner

"So, here's the real scoop: the most reluctant Zep member finally says that he'd like to play together from time to time. "I don't think I said that," Plant says, looking affronted. I point out that not only did he say it, he said it only a few seconds ago, and it's on tape. "No, no, no. Somebody else inside me was saying that. Not the bloke from Wolverhampton, the bloke from the land of the ice and snow, the bloke with his shirt unbuttoned down to his waist - and he can shut up. We're not having any more of that. It was great, but I've got to go down the highway now." "- The Times

At one point I'm watch the Crossroads episode with Plant and Alison Krauss and their playing "Please Read the Letter". And towards the end of the song there is this surge the band is building up and Alison is going full tilt on the fiddle and Robert is doing that thing where he is using his voice more as musical instrument then singing words.

That's when I realized this is what Led Zeppelin was about the surge, the build-up, The uniting of all these instruments in creating this sound that is more than the some of its parts. Is it Zeppelin? No. Is what Zeppelin was about? I would say yes.

/Since this is Fark. I have to say I do would a lot things with Alison Krauss, some of them are not even sexual.

Those solos (also Jimmy's) were about giving the other three guys some quality time with booze and groupies backstage as a break from the show.

I'd rather remember them from when I saw them at the Amphitheater back on November 10th,1980.

Got the tix as a birthday presentification from my MOM (next door neighbor across the street was a radio DJ).

$7.50 a seat (my older brother took me), took the bus and it dropped us off right out front.

Nice.

Memories. Yee haw!..

This must be an april fools post, since John Bonham died on Sep. 25 1980, and the rest of the tour was canceled.

Nice try, though.
