I got it, but there's probably a way to do it in less than the 5 steps that I took.

I don't see the difference between that one and the second one, it has the exact same knowns and unknowns with different numbers.

i don't know how it took this guy days to solve. i was able to figure out most of the angles just by looking at it for a couple minutes and if you keep chipping away the answer shouldn't be that hard. i don't like geometry so i lost interest after a while but i'm sure people with basic math skills can get this.

I majored in cocktail banter in college. I can tell you how many shots it takes to make a serority girl take off her panties but that is the extent of my math ability. Geometry sucks unless your talking about the angle of my peener as it enters the above mentioned serority girls vajajay....

Epistax 2008-03-30 07:19:50 PM
That's not hard, unless you don't write anything down

You have two angles of the bottom triangle. That means you really have all three. The third angle is one of the angles in the triangle with the to-be-determined angle. Also take that third angle and subtract it from 180, those are your other two angles touching that vertex.

Basically just look at all the various triangles and fill in the missing angles as you can until you get to the solution. If you want to write a proof, then it's more work to remember the specific rules.

Then what's the answer?

Because the steps you just outlined aren't enough to determine it.

CED + x + AEB = 180
CDE + EDB + BDA = 180

AEB = 130
ACB = 20
BDA = 40

So,

CED + x + 130 = CDE + EDB + 40
x = CED + CDE + EDB - 90

CED + CDE = 180 - ACB = 160

x = 160 - 90 + EDB = 70 + EDB

EDB + x + AEB + 20 = 180
EDB + x + 150 = 180
EDB + x = 30

and

EDB = x - 70

x + x - 70 = 30
x = 50

Didn't draw crap on the diagram. Meh, probably did something wrong.

Jesus, I looked at this and feel like a dumbtard. I haven't opened a math book since I left school. Don't really make use of a lot of geometry in Business programming.

Catlike Typist 2008-03-30 07:29:34 PM
To solve the problem, you will need to draw a few more lines inside the triangle.

I'm sorry, the level of effort you demand exceeds the limitations of my interest.
