It's silicone, subby. A man wouldn't need a silicon implant, except for the one Japanese guy I've been with. His penis appeared to have been transistorized.

So you get a bigger forehead, but still can't reach the next shelf? Sounds like a win to me.

FTA: Dr Luis de la Cruz developed the procedure to help people who would normally be too short for jobs with a minimum height.

That has got to be the dumbest things I have ever heard. The height requirement is there to insure the person has enough functionality to perform related tasks. Adding height to the head does not help this in any way.

Also,

How you doin?

Wait, this is to get them a job where there is a height requirement? Where? Where the fark is there a job where there is a minimum height requirement? Roller-coaster tester?

Even if an actual valid job did have a height requirement, it is probably due to safety regulations. I can see it now... hundreds of little people, armed with little picket signs and mini-megaphones, chanting for a business to be shut down because an oompa-loompa's safety helmet failed due to one of these implants, and caused a little death.

Top of the head? What the fark? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Make it shock-absorbent, and you've eliminated the need for a helmet.

The only silicone I want in my head is the useful kind:

Why in the Hell would anyone waste good money for a 5cm extension in any part of the body? Its not even noticeable.

there's a minimum height requirement to be a pilot in the armed forces. If I recall correctly, Tom Cruise technically is too short to fly a jet, despite his character doing so in Top Gun.

Sitting height in ejection seats.

Pretty sure that's a myth. He's short, but the only person I know who was too short was like 5'1" or something ridiculous like that.

Balzac Onyerchin: Why not do that to the soles of the feet instead. Could be gellin' all the time ...

Yeah that's what I was thinking. In fact, given the problems I have with my deformed, arthritic feet the idea of being able to always walk around on soft cushions of silicon was very appealing. I'd get the implants and I'm 6'2" tall.

5cm is just under 2". The question is why would someone want to add a 2 inch lump to the top of their head.

That seems like it'd make a lot more sense. You'd have added height instead of added head.

There is also a maximum height, but it depends on the aircraft.

As long as the implant doesn't interfere with their beer can balancing abilities, I fail to see the dire consequences of this.

That would be sick...

Seriously why would I want to add another 2" to the top of my head.. It's not like you are going to be at the same eye level of taller people...

No, that's not gonna be noticeable. Not on someone who's already short, and maybe their head isn't that big to start, either. So just go ahead and plop that lump up there, boost the forehead by two inches, won't look freakish at all, no-sir-ee!

Seventeen patients already. See how eager the doc is to show post-op pix?

I wish I was a little bit talla'
I wish I was a Balla'
I wish I had a silicon lump in my head

technicolor-misfit 2008-03-30 06:29:40 PM
The best part is that if you're actually short enough to desire this, everyone else pretty much has a bird's eye view of the top of your head, so the freakish lump will be on perfect display nearly 24/7.

I'm 6'3, so not only do I not need it, if I did get it, most people can't really see the top of my head anyway unless I'm sitting, so I could more likely carry it off most of the time.

It's a lovely catch-22. Kinda like the baldness pill that has impotence or lowered sex-drive as a side effect. You want the hair so you can get the chicks so you can get laid, you grow the hair and get the chicks, but now you can't get it up.

Modern medicine is a cruel mistress.

It's the other way around. People are more likely to be too tall to fly a fighter jet. I think the max is 6', maybe 6'2 for newer jets. The most unrealistic thing about the TV series JAG is that the lead character, a former F-14 pilot, was 6'4, way too tall.

I like being short, mainly because I know I'd be even more of a complete klutz if I were much taller, not to mention the problems I already have with my flat feet. The best way to handle this problem is not give a flying fark what people think.
