TFA: Other examples of unusually named boys registered in the past 12 months include Rocky, Rivers, Tudor and Red.

How is Rocky an unusual name?

Son of That Guy [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 02:23:01 PM
Last year a couple were told they would not be allowed to register their son's name as 4Real.

Officials in New Zealand ruled that the use of a number made it inappropriate, and Pat and Sheena Wheaton had to opt for their second choice instead - Superman.

This reads like an Onion article.

I don't think I was quite as upset about the trend of people naming their kids after products as I am about text message spellings.

FTFA: "As well as Ikea, recent girls' names have included..."

Just try and tell that child you love her. She won't believe you. Sure, Mom may be named after a furniture store, too, but "Ashley" is acceptable.

Man, this article is just sad sad sad.

You are all totally right. Everyone should have similar names, and wear similar clothes and think similar things and walk and talk and breathe in unison until we're all living in an Orwellian nightmare not unlike the 1950's.

DON'T THINK, CITIZEN!

Stupid people have more kids than smart people. It is the way of the world. Fortunately, natural selection tends to thin the stupid population faster than the smart population. It remains to be seen what the cumulative effect of overprotecting and overmedicating all these precious little snowflakes with the retarded names will be - maybe our society will come to resemble the movie Idiocracy.

i once got a txt msg from my boss saying this:

"we'll over the the shot after lunch. just got out me our meeting."

i printed it out and taped it to his monitor so he saw it when he came back after lunch. he had been running on almost no sleep for 3 days and swore that it made sense when he sent it. its still hanging on the wall next to his desk.

//shot refers to a shot in the animation we were working on

I can usually tell an article isn't worth reading when the submittchild uses the word "crotchfruit" in the headline.

Seriously, we get it. You don't like children and don't want children. I could honestly care less, but wearing ignorance and intolerance like a big red Crest Of Honor isn't exactly an endearing trait.

I've always said, that when I have a kid, they will be named after the month they are born in, regardless of gender.

Yes, I will have a kid named October, and she will like the color orange and be a goth.

That explains "Micheal."

What I'm waiting for is for some of the crazier members of Peta to give their kids names like "Kentucky Fried Cruelty.com" or "Goveg.com" (you know, giving them the names from birth that mommy and daddy had to legally change their names to while in college).

Me, if I'm ever unlucky enough to have a child, and still unlucky enough to not convince the mother to have an abortion, then I'll name it after what I'd want it to accomplish in life: S.I.D.S.

Mercedes is a woman's name. The car was named after a woman, not the other way around.

That said, I think a lot of these folks just don't know how to spell. "Izzabella" is the result of someone who never learned how to properly spell "Isabella".

The people who named their kid 4Real are just morans.

I dubbed mine Naethyn.

Just kidding, it's the normal spelling of the name.

Check out "Baby's Named a Bad, Bad Thing." You will cry for the future of humanity. Is it considered bad form to sucker punch stupid expectant parents?

As if the proliferation of instant communication, widespread lack of parenting, technology dependance, and failure of basic education in many areas are not enough, now we have to give them bizzare names based on text messages or unusual misspellings? How seriously will the business world take FoReal, Samiul, or Tame? I think the trendy naming of children like this says quite a bit about the parents, unusual names are one thing but this is just farking stupid.

I hope she gets a kick out of it, cuz I guarantee that kid will get his ass beat when he grows up and the other kids find out about that.

Yes, they are attractive successful African Americans.

Gridlock 2008-03-30 04:48:04 PM
Teachers are going to facepalming themselves for another generation of kids named super-goofy. This time the tech-savvy is dog-piling with the "oh-so-unique" naming moronity of the minority types.

The only upside is a whole generation or two of kids snickering behind their desks when Mace Massingill (real name) gets up to give a report with Cha'it'e Bobbins.

Seriously, some crazy woman actually named her kid "Mace Massingill" (groans).

Most people I know who text would probably just say "Cam". So would many of the yuppies who name their kids funny things.
