It's good to know that the site I spend 90% of my online time at isn't considered useful in any category.

King Something [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 10:55:38 AM
This website conspicuously absent from the list.

You must be referring to this site. (new window)

I don't see DownesSyndromeTeenCumDumpsters.com on that list.

Lame.

theFword 2008-03-30 02:16:35 PM
It took three posts for the first zombo.com link. Sad.

Philly_gp 2008-03-30 02:17:09 PM
I dont see puretna, empornium, redtube, youporn, or fark?

Those are the only sites I know on the interwebs.

Coleslaw 2008-03-30 02:17:22 PM
No illmitch.com? Whatever.

planes 2008-03-30 02:18:38 PM
Hey, what's going on? They forgot Global Air.

Nebulious [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 02:19:27 PM
Not only no Fark but no Slashdot? For shame.

Etchy333 [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 02:19:59 PM
40below: I don't see DownesSyndromeTeenCumDumpsters.com on that list.

I just went to Network Solutions and "searched" for that domain. I think they park any domain that gets searched for, so that domain is now proudly owned by the good people at Network Solutions.

Wow...if I spent the time required to be well acquainted with 101 web sites and their uses, I would not be a useful person! Although I can see how combining these sites would make someone more efficient at certain jobs.

Malachilenomade 2008-03-30 02:25:49 PM
Anyone else thinking what I was thinking when I saw the advert?
i264.photobucket.com

RoxtarRyan [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 02:26:16 PM
Wow... eh, article gets a 4/10, IMO. Some staple sites (google, wiki), but they included ones that are only useful to people only in London (noisemapping.org).

They failed to include (obviously) Fark.com, as well as CNet.com (or Download.com, but they are the same nonetheless).

Yeah, it does sound like a great deal

Hold on now...since when was the internets supposed to be useful?

JQPublic [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 02:28:11 PM
Not a bad list. Seems too much niche info.

Should also contain:
Drudge Report
thomas.loc.gov
lp.findlaw.com
cia world factbook
tiava
qporno

TheSpaceAdmiral [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 02:28:31 PM
TFA: Only2Clicks
www.only2clicks.com

If you use just a few websites, this lets you create a home page that has links to them all. Simple, free and practical.

Or, um, just use the Google homepage which can do that and more.

Billgerat 2008-03-30 02:28:36 PM
Thank God there's a link for cricket. You know that's do farking important.

3ntropy 2008-03-30 02:28:42 PM
IT'S FOR THE UK...which makes it inaccurate and useless. bloody brits.

skinink 2008-03-30 02:29:47 PM
If high speed connections had been common in 2000 like they are now, Scour.net and Filequest.com would have been on that list. Aside from Napster, those were the 2 best sites for music.

jeblis 2008-03-30 02:30:02 PM
smells like a sponsored link. Not saying it is, just looks like the kind of fare you'd see in one.

Bucky Katt [TotalFark] 2008-03-30 02:30:04 PM
hmmm the Torygraph is endorsing anonymous web surfing. kind of surprising.

RoxtarRyan: Wow... eh, article gets a 4/10, IMO. Some staple sites (google, wiki), but they included ones that are only useful to people only in London (noisemapping.org).

A London-based reporter writing for a London-based audience in a London-based newspaper is likely to do that, don't you think?

jjorsett 2008-03-30 02:33:38 PM
This is like saying "here are the 101 most useful tools." Like the guy changing a tire needs the same tools as the one doing biochemical research.

Bah. They think they're the cat's meow. We all know the most important place is in Houston, Texas. It is, after all, the end of the universe.

I don't see how anybody can claim Uncyclopedia is funny after they've been to EncyclopediaDramatica.

I'm so happy that myspace was nowhere to be found on that list.

Myspace Music can be kinda useful for emerging performers however, but the personal myspace makes me cringe at its shallowness.

drjekel_mrhyde 2008-03-30 02:53:04 PM
Fark, Yahoo, DSL reports, watch-movies.net, Hulu, Craigslist, Urban dictionary, Merriam Webster dictionary, and tinypic/photobucket
