Just put it in the kid's brownies. No fuss, no muss.

Did they at least teach him about sharing? He could have shared the pot with his fellow preschoolers.

"And what did you bring for show and tell today, Jimmy?"

You know there's a good percentage of daycare workers who would, um, "confiscate" the bag and dispose of the contents with their friends after shift.

Bet he will be very popular in middle school.. That or he'll be hit up on a daily basis...

"After testing the substance, police confirmed it was the illegal drug, the release said."

Who was the lucky occifer to test that sheeet out?

Workers there told police they found a clear plastic bag containing what they believed to be marijuana in the boy's pocket.

Pre-schoolers are subject to searches these days?

"Jimmy, did you bring enough sticky-icky for the rest of us?"

they're also subject to getting drugs planted on them and busted

(what were they doing in the boy's pockets ? )

If it's for his own personal use, I don't see a problem with it...

/now if they trades it for finger paints that's a different story

mdfitzsimmons 2008-03-29 08:03:58 PM
When I taught pre-school, the children brought in pictures of themselves with their families. One of the students pictures had him being held by his father with a crack pipe on a bureau in the background. And one of those pictures with the pot leaf that you get at a carnival for popping balloons with darts (I can't tell if that last sentence made sense).

Gregory F. Stuart: 1. Plant marijuana on kids whose parents you have a vendetta against.
2. Watch those parents go to jail.
3. Profit.

Classic paranoia there.

The police are known for doing that too, you know.

I bet pot would calm those little farkers down.

dbaggins 2008-03-29 08:09:45 PM
pot might be a better natural remedy for hyperactivity, but I would imagine it would make kids with ADD way worse.

aladywhoknows 2008-03-29 08:10:24 PM
There's worse criminals in your neighborhood than a couple who smokes weed. When will people learn.

albertalaska 2008-03-29 08:14:11 PM
Dear Parents, the people who make legal money from illegal drugs thanks you. ie : lawyers, judges police , jailers , court employees , drug testers, etc etc etc, into the millions of Americans

jonthenewt 2008-03-29 08:17:14 PM
It's stories like this that make me angry at the idiotic pot smokers that ruin it for the rest of us.

I remember reading stories like this before I tried marijuana, and it made me think pot must turn people into imbeciles. In this case, I would have thought these parents' brains must be exactly like the commercials--an egg frying in a pan. What kind of person gives a 4 year old pot?

But the reality is, they were that stupid to begin with (unless they are innocent and the drugs were planted, I guess we can't assume these people are guilty). They were never fit to be parents, with or without the pot.

Because of what you see in the news, it does seem like there are a lot of potsmokin' idiots, and that certainly may be so... but you gotta think of all the other people you read about on fark that do stupid stuff without the help of any drug

/I guess, just in general, people are morons

Yeah- like drug dealers. Nothing like having a house in a residential neighborhood that gets more drive-up traffic than a McDonald's. And let me tell ya, them's some fine upstanding patrons, too.

There *is* an obvious solution to that problem, you know. You don't even have to cart folks off to jail.

milleniumhand 2008-03-29 08:24:31 PM
WTF is "maintaining a common nuisance?" Besides having a four-year-old, that is.

yelmrog 2008-03-29 08:25:37 PM
you ever seen spongebob on WEED, man?

Psumek 2008-03-29 08:28:20 PM
Ok smoking weed I'm cool with. Leaving it out for your kid to take to school...not cool. Jeez next time just leave out the crack pipe for the kid.

/he's gotta learn to handle his liquor sometime Gloria

What made you think it was a crack pipe? Was there crack in it? Everyone assumes if it's a glass pipe, it's a crack pipe. I'm willing to bet his dad probably toked up rather than hit the crack pipe.

I don't know your stance on the matter, but to you, it might not make a difference if it was a crack pipe or weed pipe. I mean, there's some people who think if you use ANY illegal drug, you're going to end up looking like the popular "Faces of Meth" (new window) ads, so what's the difference?

This is incriminating? I would take a pot leaf over the stripper/bad hair band pics anyday. Or a roach clip on a feather (do they still give those out?). I have a purse that has red, green, and yellow stripes and is named the Rasta. Haven't touched the weed in many many years, unless I'm confiscating it from someone. (Mom, not cop.)

The boy's uncle also was arrested on charges of visiting a common nuisance, according to the release.
Milleniumhand, I think you're right.

tuna fingers 2008-03-29 08:48:56 PM
Decry a potato ab fag!

That's what I get when I put "bag of pot at day care" into an anagram generator.
It made sense to me.
You figure it out.
Assholes.

Because if there's one thing that's dangerous, it's a small bag containing the dried remains of the most prolific plant on the planet.

And the 4 year old gets off scott free.

Blame it all on the parents? The kid was the one with the drugs.

I hate it when my kids take my pot to school.

bbaz 2008-03-29 09:47:00 PM
arrested the boy's mother on charges of dealing and possessing marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and child neglect. They boy's uncle also was arrested on charges of visiting a common nuisance

Are they calling the little boy "a common nuisance"?

/Works for me

aladywhoknows: There's worse criminals in your neighborhood than a couple who smokes weed. When will people learn.

I totally agree. However, they're dealers. I don't really have anything against parents who enjoy a J from time to time, but dealing is another matter, especially when customers are coming to the residence to pick up.

Oh, and I am also confused as to what "visiting a common nuisance" could be.

simpsonfan 2008-03-29 10:19:54 PM
Subby goofed. The parents were not arrested. The mother was arrested, as was the boy's uncle. Maybe they'd be parents in West Virginia.

The two have the same last name, meaning there are two possibilities here:

She married the boy's father, who was not arrested, the uncle is the brother of the father. Her brother-in-law.

Or they are brother and sister, she still has their name because she never married her son's father. Daddy is nowhere around, so wasn't arrested.

fastbow 2008-03-29 10:48:30 PM
I agree with UnderMyThumb221. Who's to say the kid wasn't just buying for himself, or wasn't dealing to the other 4 year olds?

Can't he deal for himself? Mommy doesn't require a cut from him anymore. Why should she take his heat?

Not to mention the upper respiratory issues they'll face later in life.

because this is indiana, they have some stupid law:

Indiana has a law prohibiting being at a place where illegal activities are going on. This law permits the arrest and conviction of someone who is not actively engaged in any otherwise illegal conduct (I've had clients who were sleeping upon arrest for this), but there is illegal activity going in the place where they are.

***

The crime is called visiting a common nuisance, and is defined by I.C. § 35-48-4-13(a), as: "[a] person who knowingly or intentionally visits a building, structure, vehicle, or other place that is used by any person to unlawfully use a controlled substance commits visiting a common nuisance, a Class B misdemeanor."
