I can't imagine any sane person going for that, rr Republican's religious base, or anyone other than Utah, really.

Yes. That's exactly what happened to Massachusetts.

We've placed an un-winnable ticket into the GOP. Let's see if anyone notices.

McCain/Cheney?

It would pretty much put a nail in the coffin of my even thinking about voting for a Republican Presidential ticket for better than a full decade...

Calm down people. This is just some fundie blogger who is wildly speculating.

This ticket will (probably) not happen.

/voting?

bronyaur1 [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 03:12:34 PM
Even the REPUBLICANS didn't like Romney enough to give him the nomination. Does anyone think that disenfranchised Hillary voters will want him to be Prez if something happens to McCain?

Jubeebee 2008-03-28 03:14:56 PM
BobtheFascist: It's gotta be the hair.

Romney might dampen McCain's independent appeal, even if he does shore up the base.

But his hair is pretty nice.

I think we should have a side election that pits Romney vs Edwards vs Illinois governor Rod Blagoyevich for snazziest hair in politics.

Cyberluddite [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 03:14:59 PM
img1.fark.net. McCain, to his credit, farking hates Romney--I'd be pretty surprised if he went this way.

Though I'd like to see it. The likely electoral vote outcome would be Utah and Idaho for McCain, pretty much everyplace else for Obama.

When Hillary nukes the Democratic Party and McCain dies of old age, this is the election you'll actually get in November.

I_C_Weener [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 03:18:34 PM
Its a possibility, but I'd prefer Lieberman, Rice, Jesse Ventura, Bloomberg...pretty much anyone else. Even Huckabee.

Well, Texas Governor Rick Perry would have to be in that race. The man is a farking retard, but there's no denying he has a one hell of a head of hair:

The GOP VP nominee will be someone from a swing state that McCain must take. Portman from Ohio is probably the most likely, but I could also see Crist or Martinez from Florida, Pawlenty from Minn. or Tom Ridge from Penn.

Please don't encourage him from out of state. He has enough mouth breathing mongoloids here at home supporting him.

Huckabee showed me some promise when he was campaigning and talking about education, especially the importance of a balanced curriculum and the need to nurture young minds (instead of programming them). I would have suggested him for Secretary of Education.

Then he went all Creationist and blew that idea to hell.

Religious test for Romney is OKAY.

Religious test for Obama is NOT OKAY! BAD TOUCH!

McCain/Romney?

GOD, YES!

They are the perfect two candidates to preserve our current state of denial. The only better ticket would be Reagan/Rumsfeld.

It would show conservatives that McCain is sincere in his overtures to the conservative base of the Republican party.

Romney is a conservative? When did this happen?

Silly GOP, always distracted by a nice head of hair.

Romney would love this. He gets biatchslapped in the primaries, then gets a second chance. If they someone how, most likely via Hillary destroying the Democratic party, then Romney is VP to the oldest president ever with a really good shot at becoming the CiC.

klymen [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 04:45:02 PM

ssssssshhhhhhhhh!!! So when can McCain duck out and Romney still get two full terms?!?

I would have liked to see Fred Thompson on the top of the ticket, but Romney as VP will do.

romney gave the most gutless, craven, partisan bullshiat concession speech of all time when he left the race earlier this year. he is a true prick - possibly more obnoxiously smarmily evil than giuliani.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: So when can McCain duck out and Romney still get two full terms?!?

January 20, 2010.

While I'm no fan of either of them, it seems like the smartest move by far would be Huckabee. Well-known, likable, and he secures the religious conservatives for McCain. I don't think there's anything he could do to get fiscal conservatives on his side, though.

FlashHarry: romney gave the most gutless, craven, partisan bullshiat concession speech of all time when he left the race earlier this year.

THIS! His speech made me want to shout obscenities at the television and break things. It was THAT horrible, and it completely cemented my dislike of him.

Churchill2004 [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 05:59:16 PM
And I'm still wondering how the hell Mitt Romney, the Mormon Massachusetts "liberal republican", became some big rallying cry for "conservatives".

Gosling [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 06:02:19 PM
I have my money on McCain picking the bland Southern unknown- Mark Sanford (SC) or Bob Riley (AL).

There are loud grumblings for Haley Barbour from Mississippi too.

Fart_Machine 2008-03-28 06:04:43 PM
FTA: Like many conservatives, John McCain was not my first pick for President, but if he names Mitt Romney as his running mate it would do a lot to soften many of the fears we have of a McCain presidency. It would show conservatives that McCain is sincere in his overtures to the conservative base of the Republican party.

I never understood this shait. The guy ran to the left of Ted Kennedy to get his governor's seat then throws his entire record under the bus to claim he's the New Reagan.

And they buy it.

Meanwhile McCain is still considered a RINO.
