Um, from TFA, that's a quote of Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

MuckSP [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 01:54:55 PM
FTFA:

the five stupidest things Elisabeth Hasselbeck has ever said? Well, quickly, and off the top of our heads ...

1. On The New Kids On the Block: "They are my Beatles. They are the Beatles of my generation."

/good job failmitter

Yeah, or else Obama is also doing his Kegels. Failmitter obviously knows that to get greenlit it helps to have totally made stuff up for your headline.

And these five letters, in this order: OBAMA.

Obama is just Hanging Tough on the issues that matter to all of us.

Sorry, NKOTB were the "Bo Johnson and his Sheep Diddlers" of their generation.

The mods are trying to start a new rumor.

"ZOMG BARACK LIKES NKOTB!! HE'S NOT FIT TO LEAD!"

Rev. Skarekroe [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 02:07:00 PM
Wow, way to not RTFA, subby.

/Obama was born in '61. The Bee-Gees were the Beatles of his generation.

Donnie Wahlberg was pretty good in Boomtown, though...

Let's file that in the category of NOT HELPING. :D

Come on, there are totally more NKOTB articles that get greenlit than Obama ones.

I mean, they are gonna put us in the chance with a funky song, so...

Headso 2008-03-28 02:10:40 PM
I came in to use the term "failmitter" but it looks like someone else already did..so...hmmmmm...uhh, you suck at the internet submitter! there, that works...

RockyMtnMan 2008-03-28 02:11:52 PM
Um, Barack Obama didn't say that...

Because he knows Kool and the Gang were the Beatles of his generation.

redqueenmeg 2008-03-28 02:12:51 PM
Well, now, let's be fair, it's pretty easy to mistake Elizabeth Hasselbeck for Barack Obama.

poot_rootbeer 2008-03-28 02:15:19 PM
I kind of see the point of this metaphor. The reactions that the New Kids got from idiot teenage mall girls in 1989 was not all that different from the reactions that the Beatles got from that same demographic in 1964.

Well, then your failure matches that of the submitter.

A headline contradicted by the actual article? Is someone trying to pass off crap as news?

The Beatles *were* kinda the first 'boy band'.

Anyone got the failboat picture handy?

/before you pop in and spot off, in the future try to RTFA first, yeah?

2/10, even though it really makes no sense.

vernonFL: Actually, She is right.

Not really. The term "boy band" implies that they were largely talentless vocalists who were assembled by a record company based on their looks and sales appeal.

The Beatles wrote their own songs and played their own instruments and are more aptly called the first "supergroup".

The Monkees, on the other hand, probably qualify as the first "boy band".

Thing is, they never got around to putting out a Revolver. I waited for one of the modern boy bands to do it, but it never happened. Guess meth and coke don't equal pot and acid.

I see you've been infected with some sort of disease that
makes you consider even the stupidest comments in such
a wide context that they could possibly be true.

You'll wanna get that checked.

I'm no huge Beatles fan but they could definitely write a pop song.

vernonFL [TotalFark] 2008-03-28 02:23:10 PM
The Beatles were *definately* marketed as a boy band early on. Obviously they had talent though. I have several old Beatles records and they were geared towards selling to young women.

"Hmmm ... the five stupidest things Elisabeth Hasselbeck has ever said? Well, quickly, and off the top of our heads ...

1. On The New Kids On the Block: "They are my Beatles. They are the Beatles of my generation."

2. On love: "Obviously, no one's denied the right to marry, you could marry someone of the opposite sex."

3. On the morning-after pill: "It's the same thing as birthing a baby and leaving it out in the street!"

4. On teamwork and the vagina: "We are all doing our kegels right now on ABC."

5. And early in the program today, Elisabeth fumbled to quote Abraham Lincoln as having said, "In order to be a good liar you have to have a perfect memory." What Lincoln may have actually said was, "No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar," which is a bit more of a condemnation that the pseudo-challenge Elisabeth posited. Surely not the stupidest thing the crazy republican ever said, but the most recent ... that we know of."

Christ submitter, you definitely FAIL.
