Pelosi appears to have balls hiding under her designer skirts.

I can hardly blame them. These people thought they'd bought cushy ambassadorships and industry softballing from Congress. Now that their candidate is tanking, those visions of getting paid while glad-handing and sipping rum from cocoont shells are fading fast.

Yeah, between this and being one of the few politicians now with the stones to call for a boycott of the Beijing repressive clusterfark Olympics, I'm starting to like ol' Nancy a bit more.

I think that the Obama ascension might give the wing of the Democratic party that wants to tell the DLC to go DIAF some courage. The Obama candidacy should be showing that you don't really need to sound like a Republican.

Eh, not exactly.

On one side, you've got twenty people waving hundred dollar bills at you, and on the other side you've got a million people waving singles at you.

I'll go with the second group. Aside from the second group being right on this topic as well, of course.

I wasn't a huge fan of Pelosi when she became the House Speaker. I'm really starting to like her now.

In fact this election has really warmed me up to the Democrats. I couldn't believe that Ted Kennedy decided to back Obama. They are making changes in the right direction.

Did Pelosi mean that super delegates in each state should follow the lead of their state's pledged delegates or just pledged delegates in general? If the former, that would mean Gov. Richardson would have to retract his endorsement of Sen. Obama since Sen. Clinton won the majority of pledged delegates in New Mexico. If that were not enough, a whole bunch of delegates would surely have to change sides to follow Rep. Pelosi's edict. If the latter, then it means she is essentially deciding the race in Sen. Obama's favor. I see why Clinton supporters would be upset. While I think that the race needs to be decided soon, I don't think it's Rep. Pelosi's place to say how that should happen, but rather a consensus of the whole party or all its leaders. I want Sen. Obama to win, but not at the cost of dividing the Democrats irreparably.

I think she means that the supers should vote according to however their constituents voted. I think Richardson has said that he will cast his vote for Clinton at the convention because that's how New Mexico went. Richardson is still free to endorse whomever he likes.

Wrong.

This isn't about looking at each and every precinct.

Superdelegates serve two purposes: to prevent an unelectable candidate from gaining the nomination and to give the winning candidate a sense of solidarity based on numbers. Neither of those apply here.

Pelosi is saying that the body of Superdelegates should do their job and that in this case that means stepping in time with the voting Democratic body.

explain to me how sitting at the same table with someone makes it that their views are now synonymous. Just showing a picture like that proves nothing, how about a little context with it at least.

Tallgordon 2008-03-28 11:59:56 AM
I agree with Tartha De Tear

Pelosi is saying superdelegates should vote for whomever receives the most pledged delegates by June.

This would also be accomplished if every single elected superdelegate voted according to their constituency, but since many have already pledged, there's no guarrantee that they'll all do that.

Essentially, the worst thing that could happen would be if the Democrats held an elections with historic record turnout and then 800 shadow elites overturned that election.

Yeah, I know. I was just saying that Richardson doesn't need to revoke his endorsement because New Mexico went for Clinton. The video wouldn't load, so I don't know exactly what Pelosi said, I was just responding to what Shadow had said.

I do think that the Supers should go with whomever has the lead in pledged delegates by the end of the primaries.

This guy helped fuel the accusations that she had something to do with the death of Vince Foster. It has nothing to do with synonymous views. It has to do with the fact she's even going so far as to be in the same room with someone who accused her of orchestrating the murder of a family friend, when in reality she ought to be punching him in the farking nose. Let's also not forget he was one of the chief individuals targeted in claim of a vast right wing conspiracy against the Clintons.

I think it is does an excellent job of exemplifying exactly how far she's willing to go to win this.

Is she

(a) TRYING to piss off enough superdelegates to lose the nomination, or

(c) simply so incredibly clueless that she thinks that threats like this will win her the nomination?

Wow.

I agree it is odd that she would even be in the same room as this guy, but still that picture gives no context. It doesn't say when it happened, why it happened, etc. I'm not defending Clinton, just saying that the picture doesn't reveal much of anything, other than she was at the same table as the guy at some point.

Unless that meeting ended with Hillary shooting him from under the table, then her sitting with that turd is not a good thing.

Ok here's the skinny on the pic and Hillary's strange political bedfellows.

Hillary is finding safe haven in the right wing media because they want her to get the nomination and run against McCain.
So naturally they'll shine a favorable light on her and not ask her any questions she doesn't want to answer.
Like the sniper stuff. The NAFTA stuff. etc..

The meeting occurred just before she met with the newspaper's editorial board for an interview. He was also present at the interview.
She's met with Murdoch too. I't a case of sleeping with the enemy. Knowing they will turn on you once you get the nomination.
But doing so because it benefits both your needs.

shaggenstein 2008-03-28 12:45:48 PM
right on Hobo, that's all I was looking for, just some info behind the picture. She is obviously willing to stoop to all kinds of levels to win, and this is just more proof.

The same would hold true for Ted Kennedy who endorsed Obama while his lovely state of Massachusetts went to Senator Clinton.
