Oh WOW subby! You found a topical word that fits into the (R-xxx) format, you are a master of wit.

Seriously. Am I the only person who finds the whole (R-jokeword) (D-jokeword) convention parody to be the lamest weakest laziest unfunny attempt at humor?

/I am apparently much too worked up about this

That's some nice stereotyping work there, Lou.

And if you want to complete the analogy, the defect was fixed, but there was that very painful and not entirely successful surgery, and the years of physical therapy. Now if we could just get rid of this last set of crutches...

And thus you should be inspired to do nothing?

Piss off. If your country is so hell-bent on waving its flag and trumpeting itself as the Beacon of DemocracyTM to the rest of the world, it ought to live up to its own hype.

I think one of the most useful things about the Wright fiasco is that it has acted as a pretty effective litmus test for the conservative voices in America splitting them neatly into 2 camps.

1. Serious conservatives who either don't want to make this a campaign issue and would rather talk about Iraq, taxes, etc or who are willing to discuss larger issues of race in America:
McCain, Huckabee, Rice, most of the NRO crowd.

2. Professional outrage peddlers who put up a statement, feel outrage, repeat as necessary:
with 1 or 2 exceptions - the Fox news crowd, the GOP strategists, few politicians themselves but look for this to change.

Corvus 2008-03-28 01:29:11 PM
How could Condi say that?

All the republicans know that his speech was only about calling white people racist. That's what Rush told them to think.

Hideously Gigantic Smurf 2008-03-28 01:29:24 PM
Shostie: Just about every country on the planet has race issues, not just the U.S.

So we've gone from "there is no problem" to "there is a problem, but it's your fault" to "there is a problem, it's all our fault, but everyone else has the same problem".

The perfect answer to the "How are we going to race bait without appearing racist ourselves?" question.

This way she can attack Obama and the pastor without blowback.

When people wake up to personal responsibility and learn to judge on the basis of character not color or appearance.

That goes for 'both sides'.

Unfortunately 'both sides' have individuals that make large sums of money keeping the race-baiting going.

What we didn't know was how truly broken the society was," she said.

Although Saddam Hussein's regime was mostly to blame for that, she said that U.N. sanctions contributed as well, because as a result of them, "agriculture is virtually dead in Iraq."

Talk about passing the buck. She'd wanna look a little closer to home.

Ain't that the truth. Some people's fears are so deep rooted, the thought that any black person could possibly be more successful than they is proof of white disenfranchisement.

Nominating Rice would be a huge mistake. If anyone had any doubts about McCain being Bush for a third term, recruiting the failed members of the previous administration would remove them.

shhh. they're supposed to think it's brilliant.

Condi has nothing in her past that might come back to haunt her I'm sure. Look at all those successes she has stacked up.

When she was the National Security Advisor she couldn't imagine anyone would think of flying a plane into a building.
She never held any terrorism meetings at the cabinet level before 9/11
She said she wasn't left a plan but a list of actionable items.
And then the diplomatic successes of her Sec of State stint. Well words just can't describe how much of a success that's been.
