I don't know what the authentic version tastes like but Hormel, maker of fine chili products, sells a version. It's some ground up pinkish meat product with little white bits that may be potatoes. It comes in a can. Dump the stuff out, heat and slice. Kids love it. As an adult I think it's disgusting. It's salty and has a weird texture, and smells kinda like dog food.
