I'm putting that on my top 20 list of forum complaints which will be greelighted later this week.

jimmyego [TotalFark] 2008-03-27 12:01:39 PM
I'd like to note almost all of the images weren't related to the songs, just stock shots of the artists. Leading me to question... why is it a slideshow? In case you forgot who they were?

Chuck Wagon 2008-03-27 12:10:30 PM
The Adam's groove is much worse than any other Hammer song.

How does "Mmm Bop" and "Macarena" not make the list?

You gotta be f'n kidding me. That's a great song.

Uh, you might want to look at that list again.

Sybarite [TotalFark] 2008-03-27 12:24:26 PM
How Bizarre is a fun song, and I still listen when it comes on the radio.

Also, Will to Power's cover of Baby I Love Your Way (mashed together with Freebird) is far worse than Big Mountain's. Although it was released the late 80s.

Kyro [TotalFark] 2008-03-27 12:25:52 PM
Bah... I liked Limp Bizkit. Durst's a douche, but who didn't nod their head along to Nookie?

El Dudereno 2008-03-27 12:28:06 PM
Mr Big - "To Be With You"

That song wasn't so bad. It was hearing it so often that sucked.

Mmm Bop definitely deserved inclusion.

Wasn't it Los Del Rio that did "Macarena"?

As much I like to rag on Limp Bizkit, I really do think that Wes Borland is an amazingly talented guitarist. His new band, Black Light Burns, is really good.

I disagree with the list. Many of the songs were good at the time, just fun to ridicule today. Most were simply over-played.

"Top" lists are a widely used media tool to get people involved and active in discussing a broad subject that otherwise would have no real notability, newsworthiness, etc.

Me. It was pure, unadulterated suck. And 'How Bizarre'? The mere thought of that piece of excrement makes my intestines threaten revolt. November Rain was a pretty good song by a great band. "I'm Too Sexy" was farking hilarious, too - it's just that nobody got the joke.

Lexx 2008-03-27 02:58:54 PM
Limp Bizkit is pretty terrible, but some of their songs are listenable. I still have "Rearranged" in my chillin playlist.

Whoomp! There it is, and Tubthumping? Sounds like the LA times just really have a hate-on for a few particular bands and a few particular one-hit-wonders.

Worst of the 2000's (till now):

-Coldplay
-Wheezer (after their first album)
-Avril Lavigne
-Did I mention Coldplay?
-Creed (but they retired!)

Los del Mar covered it.

Bad list-makers!

Actually, Los del Rio did the first version, the video with the two guys and the bunch of dancing girls. Then Los del Mar came in and did a knock-off (you can't even really call it a cover). If you thought the first one was bad (which it really wasn't THAT bad -- it was still catchy), then you'd probably destroy your stereo if you heard the second version.

Oh, and I concur with everyone who decried the inclusion of "November Rain."

humans love to be revisionists. all these albums were huge hits... but now, we are thinking we are poking fun at these artists? We're the ones who put money in their pocket.

Breakfast At Tiffany's
by Deep Blue Something

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

I see you - the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over,
And I hate when things are over -
When so much is left undone

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

What? "I'm too sexy" was awesome. Take it out and replace it with "More than words". That song makes me want to ride the highway.

/Remember kids. Ride the highway. Don't cross the street.

Oh, I love lists of things that were commercially popular in their time (in many cases on the list) but now today they were bad back then?

I also love slide shows. Is there a Farker that searces these things out just to submit more slide shows?

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-03-27 03:17:43 PM
T.rex: humans love to be revisionists. all these albums were huge hits... but now, we are thinking we are poking fun at these artists? We're the ones who put money in their pocket.

No, a lot of us hated those songs when they first came out. In fact, there are no songs that I once liked that I won't at least admit are fun songs, even if I don't listen to them anymore.

Notice there's not a lot of gangsta rap on there. I guess they didn't want to get shot.

...and Tubthumping is a good song. It's based on an old Irish drinking song.

AND fark YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR INCLUDING NOVEMEBER RAIN, YOU COCKS.

I'm ok.
