um. why is this green?

MalloreeH 2008-03-25 08:56:36 AM
Actually, I mean, Wow! That's awesome! You'd think a band would hit rock bottom when they do the Flintstone's movie.

I actually didn't know any of them were still alive. I just figured They would have had a special on VH1's Behind the Music, and just faded off.

TheSignPost 2008-03-25 08:57:03 AM
*Not* Awesome, actually.

They sound like pre-suicidal coke fiends who have accidentally discovered a way onstage through the back door and have started throwing the instruments at each other and w00ting.

Fred Schneider is awesome. I'm not really fan of his band's music per se, but everyone in Athens knows the members of the B-52's as the nicest people you will ever meet. Ever. EVER!

Why can't Kate Pierson just go solo. The others can then be sent to a big farm in the country

Generation_D [TotalFark] 2008-03-25 10:12:50 AM
One of the ladies will let you stay at her house if you pay her to.

What will the neighbors say.

Yay B-52s. STFU kids who weren't born yet. And enjoy it in 20 yrs when your bands get snarked by people half your age.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2008-03-25 10:17:39 AM
Oh I'll definitely check it out.

Coincidentally I've been going through some old CDs and put Cosmic Thing back in rotation in the car. I wonder why Channel Z never made it as a hit?

But c'mon, how can you not like Planet Claire and Quice Lorraine? Yeah, they're a silly group, but the music is catchy and sometimes a little silly is needed.

I don't remember hearing it on the radio, but I do remember it being in fairly heavy rotation on MTV.

Their music makes me happy. Ain't nothing wrong with that!

strangely, they're playing at the school i work for in April. Random. I don't really have any intention of going. I love rock lobster and i hate love shack and i don't know anything else.

If we're talking about Kate going solo, I REALLY liked that song she did with Iggy Pop, Candy. (^)

B-52's are AWESOME.
Can't wait to hear this CD.

There are not enough bands just having fun these days.

Didn't the original guitarist die of teh AIDS in the late 80's or early 90's?

but anyway, all the power to them for reuniting and putting out an album.
the only ones i know are "rock lobster", "love shack", and "roam".

i should really pick up their debut one of these days... i heard it's really really good. new wavey weird rock art rock stuff.

I'm pretty sure every member of the band likes it in the back door.

You should pick it up for sure! I have it on vinyl... I'm not even sure where it came from. Anyways, it's an awesome album. My favourite song for a long time was "Mesopotamia (p)".

chrispco 2008-03-25 12:52:10 PM
There is a reason they are the World's Greatest Party Band!

I see them in concert every time their tour hits DC and they never fail to bring down the house. Any band that can rock live for 30 years deserves massive praise.

Does anybody know what Fred was referring to in Strobe Light when he sings "I'm gonna kiss your pineapple!"?

/Been wondering that since the early '80s.

Found a live video for Strobe Light. Here (new window)
Is the female bass player the same lady who played the piano on the Drew Carey version of Whose Line?

Clint, i dunno, but that is my fave song by them. great music, weirdo lyrics, schizoid good times!

<old fart memory>

I saw the B-52's in 1978 at the Penn Campus. Great energetic show and a whole lot of fun. I recall beer was allowed back then and some frat boys gave me a few. They proceeded to stack the empties into a pyramid on stage.

</old fart memory>

Okay, I'll try to quit.

Granted this wasn't a great movie but can you think of any band better suited to do a cover of the Flintstone's theme than the B52s?

Bonus: Halle Berry in animal skins shakin' it. (new window)

/They should have a special section called B52-tube

Oopsie for you. They recorded the new album at a big farm in the country - it's about six miles down the road from me. Looks like a nice place to record.
