Oh look! Another headline that deliberately written to show complete ignorance in the hopes that the same inane "discussion" can happen! Well done, subby. You should be proud.

Funny, because last year was hotter than average. That was enough for most of your TFers to be convinced that not only was Global Warming here, it was man-made and that Bush was to blame.

Oh, so when its not getting warmer like you claimed you just change the name to global climate change. I see what you did there.

As a resident of southwest Michigan, I would love a healthy dose of global warming, but so far Al Gore has failed to deliver.

I thought all you guys who get your science from politicians (and their paid shills) instead of scientists finally agreed that there was a global warming trend. I believe that the current party line is that you refuse to accept the possibility that man may be able to impact it.

Better re-check your neocon website subby ... your regurgitated talking points are way out of date!!!

The Detroit area benefits from heavy snowfalls as it cuts down on the general crime rate, at least temporarily.

Anyway, Detroit laughs at climate catastrophe. It would take multiple daily tornadoes to outdo the general damage done by the resident criminal population.

The Earth has undergone no fewer than four major ice ages. To believe that the Earth's climate should suddenly become static (and not cyclical, like everything else in nature) is nothing short of ignorance.

Dupa [TotalFark] 2008-03-23 10:09:04 AM
The glaciers have almost completely receded from the lower 48 U.S. states and you folks still deny climate change? Come on, morans.

Heresy! The subby has defamed the almighty Goracle and will be burned at the stake dealt with in a "carbon neutral" manner!

Alphax 2008-03-23 10:09:34 AM
Snowing here in St. Louis, but it's melting on impact with the ground.

Seems that 'record snowfall' and 'global warming' aren't exclusive. Since instead of it being too cold to snow, it's snowing.

Koggie [TotalFark] 2008-03-23 10:09:41 AM
Actually, this has been the weirdest winter. One day it will be 55-60 degrees and then next we get 6-12 inches of snow.

Whatever you want to call it, it's definitely not been a normal winter (or beginning of Spring)

soy_bomb 2008-03-23 10:10:54 AM
But, but, but cold temperatures and record snow falls are a clear indication of Global Warming! It doesn't matter what the weather conditions are, its all due to Global Warming!

See ... here is someone who is up on the latest talking points. Subby should pay attention.

Denying GW is out ... now you deny the possibility of being responsible so that nobody has to change anything.

How many times does this need to be put to rest?

Pretend it's 10 degrees below freezing.

The temperature goes up 5 degrees.

The increased temperature means MORE PRECIPITATION.

But guess what... it's still 5 degrees below freezing!

Therefore,... you're gonna get... MORE SNOW.

soy_bomb 2008-03-23 10:12:26 AM
182: It's not Global Warming, subitard, it's Climate Change!

Snow in Michigan is an indication of climate change? I am pretty sure that Michigan had snow long before the internal combustion engine was mass produced.

I take issue with the headline as I'm in Northwest Michigan and we didn't get any snow at all yesterday. We've had enough this winter, it's time for the southern part of the state to suffer.

This has actually been the best winter since I moved back up here 11 years ago. The 10 previous winters were a joke. Snow in December and January and that was about it.

Cheesehead_Dave 2008-03-23 10:14:40 AM
182: It's not Global Warming, subitard, it's Climate Change!

So, anywhere the temps are warmer than normal, the envirotards call it "global warming." If the weather doesn't cooperate with their theories, then it becomes "climate change."

Maybe we should admit that we don't know quite as much about the way the planet works as we think?

/Not saying that reducing the amount of crap we pollute into the air shouldn't be a goal
//Maybe people just shouldn't freak out as much

And almost all of the snow has come since January or so. Since New Years, we've been getting a snowstorm every few days for almost 3 months.

Actually, the cause of Detroit's non-warming is obvious.
As the local general crime rate decreases,
the rate of local incidents of piracy inevitably goes down as well.
Ipso Facto.

I drove home in white out conditions Friday afternoon because the forecasts said the I94 corridor was screwed but the Kent county and to the north would only have flurries. WTF we got 7.5 inches!

/Not really complaining about the weather, this is Michigan for christ's sake. The snow fills in the stupid pot holes. However: All of you doing 10mph in the left lane, GET OFF THE HIGHWAY!
