jcooli09: What about the thousand years between this and the creation of the world?

well since adam was listed in the bible as living like 900 years or something, wouldn't that mean he had just died and we weren't far removed from the garden of eden?

Hope the Ottoman empire removed all their furniture before they disappeared.

I've seen this before. I think I was even in high school at the time. EPIC REPEAT.

They didn't. Some comedy writer in New Rochelle bought the place. It took him a couple of seasons to learn to avoid their obstacles.

That was really interesting - too bad they left out the PFLP.

Totally inaccurate. Palestine has been in palestinian hands since the beginning of time.

For anyone who is interested the Sassanid Empire was also a Persian empire. They also missed out on the Parthian and Safavid Empires which were also Persian.

/Go Persian Empire GO!!!!

That took more than 90 seconds.

The map has the Mongol empire lasting until 1700, which I don't believe.

I have one problem. What they show as the Kingdom of Israel was better known as the United Monarchy of which the Kingdom of Israel was a part of and also included the Kingdom of Judah. And the vast majority of literature pertaining to its existence comes right out the Bible. There is no definite proof that it ever existed at all.

Having said that, I now whither before the flames sure to come.

Map is pretty cool to watch and such.

I kinda take issue with one of the maps on their site though. It lists wars and conflicts across the globe and arbitrarily sorts them into what political party is responsible. I mean, is the civil war really a republican war, and is WW2 really a democrat war?

The parties changed so much over 200 odd years of existence that making them responsible for anything past 50 years or so is idiotic and pointless.

They also neglected to mention that Heraclius undid all of the Sassanid gains highlighted (Egypt, the Levant) and went on to force their capitulation after brilliant maneuvering in Mesopotamia. Though it is perhaps a shame, as they were never able to recover their former stability and prowess before the Mohammedans appeared from Arabia... That said, Byzantium was still up and fighting for the intermediate portion of that map. Damn them for removing the Romans before their actual demise.

Ok, it's a nitpick but this does leave off the aftermaths of WWI and WWII (the middle east was a major theater of war in both cases) as well the 3 Arab Israeli wars and 1979 Camp David Accords where land did change hands.

Jlop985 2008-03-23 01:31:15 AM
No divided kingdom of Israel and Judah
No Ptolemaic or Seleucid empires

Cyborg77: Persian Empire you say?

The Persians failed to conquer Greece, and got pushed back by Alexander, but the Empire revived until oit was conquered by Islam.

No divided kingdom of Israel and Judah

Unimportant hill tribes.

dervish16108 2008-03-23 09:06:41 AM
The Sassanid Persian Empire also managed to capture Roman Emperor Valarian. Sassanid King Shahpur used him as a footstool to get on his horse until he died a year or so later.

Israel is there way too early me thinks.

Actually, I saw this last year when FARK highlighted it. No one's business but the Turks.

Yet the kingdom of Israel was important enough to show?
