I actively work to eliminate pictures of me in real life, too.

Also, I take great care in keeping my online identities as far removed from my real identity as possible. This way I don't have to worry so much about info leaks - 95% of the information out there about me is wrong.

I wonder how many of those people said that after googling themselves. There are lots of other ways to have photos online that avoid the common search engines, I somehow doubt that dating websites with group photos or police/government monitoring stations are on dogpile, yahoo, etc.

Google Pictures shows some guy from the university of WI...

This is such a non issue. It's not not a danger to your privacy when people don't know who the hell you are. There are so many photos online that if yours is among them you're just a random image on the Internet. Consider the case where you were at a bar and someone took a picture of their "good times", and you ended up on their myspace along with them.

It's not like "Oh wow, that's Betty Smith who lives in Houston, TX - her picture is on the Internet! hahahahaha!!!"

It's like "random image of a person that I'm subconsciously ignoring while I look for pictures of my friends."

There is anonymity in crowds. Because although you are a person, you are also just a face in the crowd. No more reason to be paranoid about this than to be paranoid that people saw you at a gas station. Oh noes, they like totally saw you!
