*sigh* McCain goes around acting presidential while Obama is left fending off a rabid opponent that no one is willing to put down.

McCain is probably right, except France's support for Sarkozy is rapidly dwindling if the BBC World I saw today is any indication. A lot of people are annoyed at him "living his private life in public" since the French appear to have a thing about higher-ups being very reserved. As the BBC put it, he's losing his Je ne sais quoi. That and the targets of his reform are angrily resisting.
