If this goes through, the body modifications available in the future would be amazing. I might be tempted to get such a modification if available.

That's nothing. I just had a tooth extracted and to prepare for a stud they had to pack bovine bone material in the hole.

So that made me a human-animal hybrid.

After the bone fused they drilled a socket and screwed in a metal post for mounting the replacement tooth.

That made me into a human-animal hybrid cyborg.

/Too late, you have been assimilated.

I, for one, welcome our new human-animal hybrid overlords.

Snarfangel: Equal rights for Manimals!

that's not a joke, actually. How do they have citizenship? rights to health care? How is their diet ensured? Can they vote? What accommodations do employers need to make? Are they property of whomever makes them? Can they go to school? if not, must we still find a way to educate them? What of their religion?

This is all serious in the 21st century.

British Parliament boring, smitty? Have you ever watched Prime Minister's Questions? It's entertaining as hell.
A lot of old men sitting on opposite sides of a room throwing insults at each other. What's not to love?

If the US had something like PMQ, Bush wouldn't have lasted a month before his credibility was shot to pieces.

Although he did not wish to name them, Mr Benton, who is MP for Bootle, said: "I know for a fact there would be ministers who would resign over this issue.

Then let them. Maybe we can get a few more MPs who aren't trapped by the 2000 year old ramblings of nomadic goat herders.

If they haven't already...although I would think you would find them first in Thailand. The brothels of Bangkok seem a good place to be looking for sinuous girls with long tails already.

Gentlemen? Anyone want to fess up?

Slightly curious, but--if I remember correctly--doesn't this just mean inserting human cells into animal embryos to get a better handle on how disease mechanisms affect human cells/make an intermediary between 'animal' and 'human' researching?

The fact that it is almost completely staged for theatrical effect to give the public the illusion that their MPs are taking a tough stance on "important" issues? CSPAN had a long interview with Bernard Weatherill, he laughingly admitted as much.

It's not like the PM doesn't know who the Speaker is going to call on. It's not like he doesn't know what they are going to ask ahead of time.

It's a show. It's like reality TV.

From a scientific standpoint this is important research, and quite interesting. IT could help us understand our relationship with the rest of Earth's biosphere and be a springboard into fixing defective genes before they become a problem.

And you can say what you will about furries (weird as it may be, most of them keep to themselves and never bother anyone, and most of the hate-spewers are just insecure about their own orientation), but I swear nothing shall impede our progress towards making and distributing Catgirls.

Though most of the experiments I've heard are planned involve rabbit and cow genomes, they are still equally cool.
