If Obama is the nominee think that's mostly talk but it depends on how well McCain distances himself from the policies he picked up to woo Republicans in the primary. Clinton is another matter.

I'm an independent, and if it's a choice between McCain and Clinton, I'm voting for McCain. If it's McCain vs Obama, Obama gets my vote.

McCain is less evil than Hillary. Obama is less evil than McCain. It's really quite simple.

Leave Alec Baldwin alone!!!

But think if this is true...then McCain will win in a landslide. I would find that extremely humorous.

I've heard this statement many times. I feel the same way. I don't like McCain's brainless ideas about Iraq but at least he occasionally stands up to people (excluding Bush of course). Clinton is a product of the machine, she will spend all her time paying back her debts rather than thinking about her job.

Same here. I was generally impressed with him eight years ago. Today, not so much.

Year right, and polls taken 6 months before an election are always accurate.

Can we please just have the vote next week so we don't have to listen to this shiat for the next 6 months?

Pretty please with a cherry on top

patrick767: Thank you for this horribly divisive primary, Hillary.

But, she said "This is where the fun begins!" I really, truly, want to bury this style of politics, if only for a short while. But a great deal of damage has already been done these past two months. Hillary has given many people reason to hate her (again), and she's given excuses for her supporters (including Limbaugh) to label Obama as a liar, empty-suit, closet marxist, anti-semite, Muslim-luvin' new sheriff.

Meanwhile, McCain seems to be trying to confuse everyone into thinking that Iran supports Osama... or was it Obama?

It's worse than that. His recent comments have him confusing Sunnis and Shia Muslims in his rambling comments on Iraq and terrorism. Honest to god, he makes second-term Ronald Reagan sound like Winston Churchill.

So it's Obama, Hillary, or the Cryptkeeper.

Talon [TotalFark] 2008-03-21 11:05:32 AM
I buy the numbers for Obama because he's been pulling in independents; people who have no loyalty to the democratic party. Hillary likes to kiss her own ass about how special she is that she has the "core" voting democrats on her side. Their biatching and moaning is just sour grapes; there's no way the "core" voters for the democratic party will vote republican. It's as believable as the Evangelicals voting democrat because they dislike McCain - talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face!

So forgive me if I'm doubtful that Clinton supporters will do anything other than get in line and be the sheep they are for the democratic party.

They really need to poll independants and democrats to get an accurate picture...

I don't like Hillary or McCain so I probably won't vote if it is just a choice between those two.

I can't believe people are still talking about this like it's a three-way race. Hillary is finished. There will be no do-overs in FL or MI, so it's now mathematically impossible for her to get the popular votes or delegates that she needs. Her last hope is to sway the super-delegates with the electability BS, but she's just going to make herself look even more ridiculous. Bye bye Hillary, don't let the door hit you.

Obama's got the edge on this issue. I can say so because there are millions of "Obamacrats", like myself, who are involved in this race because of Obama. If he were not a candidate, we would simply not be involved and turn our attention elsewhere.

Personally, I have devoted hundreds of hours and dollars to the Obama campaign. He is the first candidate I have ever truly cared about. If he loses the nomination, I will write his name in, then quit the process and contemplate a move to Canada.

Don't fark this one up America.

When the Republicans were at their zenith, at the absolute height of "God Bless America, You don't support the troops, why do you hate freedom?", the elections were razor thin (see the 2000 and 2004). I really doubt that with the sad state the Republican party is in, that they'll be able to pull off anything less than a total embarrassment.

drhansenej 2008-03-21 12:06:16 PM
How long does McCain have to have his tongue up Bush's butt before people realize he's no maverick, just more of the same? And we can't afford more of the same (literally, can't afford it).

My Liver Hurts: They talk a big game, but they'll line up with the rest of 'em come November.

some of us don't blindly follow a party whoever they elect, and actually use our brains when deciding which candidate that we want to support. So for me, if Obama doesn't get the nomination I will go McCain.

I suppose if you don't like thinking for yourself and your political philosophy is being a sheep for a specific party then you are correct.

(1/5)/2 = 1/10 = 10%

Total primary voter pop. thus far: D=61%, R=39%

Worst Case: 61 - 10 = 51 = WIN

It's going to convention, and that's why McCain can win. It shames me that the Democratic party can't easily win this in a 40-state landslide. We've been in a pointless war for five years, our economy is in the shiatter, we appear to be headed for a recession, and diesel fuel is four dollars a gallon. How is it that we are even remotely concerned with Bush 2.0 at this point in the election cycle?

IF OBAMA WINS: The Hillary supporters will vent, but eventually talk themselves into Obama. Kind of like how the Dean people talked themselves into Kerry. We'll still get President Obama.

IF HILLARY WINS: The Obama supporters aren't kidding around. They're not going to talk themselves into Hillary. They'll vote McCain or stay home. A few will write in Obama as a sign of protest. Enough will to eventually give us President McCain.

Anyone who seriously would vote for McCain over Clinton is a gigantic idiot. She has the same policies as the candidate you're slobbering over, but you're going to screw over the country because of your perception of her that's been shaped by memes, Leno jokes, and media coverage?

McCain is an ignorant warmonger. I don't care that he's "nicer" than Clinton.

I am voting for the person I think is least likely to bankrupt the country, and at the same time repair relations with the rest of the world.

Unless things change significantly, I think that Obama == Clinton in terms of spending, and they both beat McCain. In terms of repairing relations, I think that Obama >>>>>>>>> McCain > Clinton.

Thus, McCain vs. Obama, I will go with Obama. McCain vs. Clinton, I will have to think long and hard about who will do the least damage.

Even if all Obama accomplishes is to restore our good name more than a little bit, that will be enough for me.

I had an unjustified (sort of visceral) dislike of Hillary coming into this election, which I recognized as unjustified and was willing to ignore. Now, it's justified. Good pick, NY.

This is a simple issue. Hillary voters are hard-core Democrats. They'll never vote across the aisle.

Obama voters are younger, newer to the process, and tend to be more committed to the candidate, not the party.

Hideously Gigantic Smurf 2008-03-21 12:16:06 PM
Even if they did, the Democratic nominee would still get the majority.

The reason I want to see Barack win the nomination is because, this election, I'd much prefer to vote FOR Barack than AGAINST McCain.

You see, unlike Bush, while I don't think McCain would be a good President, I can still respect him as a man.

If polls did mean something, it would be a Guil/9/11/ianni - Clinton race right now.
