I suppose submitter would prefer Boston touring with the corpse of Brad Delp.

Regurgitated parts from the throat of the music industry. Wonder what it'll cough up next?

Dan Fogelberg as portrayed by Alice Cooper?

Well, regardless, they're Together as One now. Honestly.

Oh, who gives a damn about either anymore? I'm so sick of hearing about classic rockers who can't give up the ghost, who feel the need to drag their flabby carcasses out on the road to squeeze just a little more glory and cash out of the nostalgic.

Go back to your Tudor-style mansions with your supermodel third wives, and leave our memories intact of the days when you weren't all old and sucky.

P.S. This rant does NOT include those fossil rockers who have continued to perform and evolve since their "glory days"(I'm looking at you, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, and many others).

Boston should go get Mickey Thomas of Starship & "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" fame.

He can still hit the high notes, which is probably the only reason they got the Stryper guy. I guess they got the that guy cheaper.

I'm no fan of Boston, but please don't insult real musicians like Boston by invoking the names of crappy "musicians" like Bowie, Gabriel or Plant.

I do, because they're both great bands. And being that they're musicians, well music is what they do. Musicians really don't have anything to retire to except boredom. Which means, most don't find it very appealing.

Speaking of Bowie, did anyone happen to see that [very old] documentary that shows him using a random word generator to come up with song lyrics?

I'm a huge Boston fan and would see them if they came close enough. Having said that, my main interest will be to see how long Sweet goes before killing himself. One is a fluke - two is a trend.

Michael Sweet is an amazing vocalist. Don't believe me? Check out that note he hits in "To Hell With the Devil"

Further evidence to support my theory that Boston is "Tom Scholz and his current group of friends."

I vote for a swap. Queen can have Michael Sweet, and Boston can have Paul Rodgers.

Bhags 2008-03-20 08:04:12 PM
uhhhhhh....its the new guy thats doing lead vocals. sounds very close to Delp's voice. eerily so.

RaKellaKAT 2008-03-21 12:30:27 AM
I once saw an interview with Queen's Brian May where he was talking about Queen + Paul Rodgers, and he said something to the effect of "we wouldn't do it anymore if we just thought it was going to be like a Queen cover band." Bri, it does. I'm sorry. And it will for Boston too.

Michael Sweet sounds a lot like Delp did. He can belt like a muthafarker too. That said, you couldn't give me a ticket to that mess. Bring back Stryper and Oz Fox before I see Boston again.

BigJ7489 2008-03-21 12:30:28 PM
Article's got it all wrong. Tommy DeCarlo takes Delp's place. Hear him here: Link

Sweet takes the fired Fran Cosmo's place, backup vocals and rhythm guitar. Cosmo and his kid got fired for taking gigs as Boston on the side without Scholz knowing or getting paid.

If you start your tour in Thunder Bay, you're either just starting out, or well past fallen.

I like how, when it shows the tour dates at the end, it differentiates "The Band BOSTON - Tour Summer 2008"

Otherwise, it would be like:

"Hey, what you doin' tonight?"
"I'm going to see Boston."
"Boston?...I didn't know you were going to Boston..."
"No,,,THE BAND Boston"
"You're going to see a band in Boston?"

didn't Stryper used to throw bibles into the audience?
