A joke that was played out when Gallager said he couldn't run for president. Thanks for the worthless!

Headso 2008-03-19 02:52:14 PM
articles about actors, musicians, and pornstars running for president are like dog bites man stories, does anyone even have a tiny, fraction, of interest for this shiat?

goofycaca: A joke that was played out when Gallager said he couldn't run for president.

I was just thinking about that the other day. Someone in the audience yells 'Gallagher for president!' and he responds, 'I can't run for president cuz i smoke dope.'

Well, I now have my write-in candidate if Hillary gets the Dem's ticket... voting for McCain would be redundant.

That picture makes me think it could work, because if you cut the hair and shaved the middle of his head there'd be a certain resemblance to Toby Ziegler from the West Wing. Fleeting, slight, I-just-pulled-it-out-of-my-arse resemblance, but resemblance nonetheless.

He began to brief me on how, after quietly spending a sizable sum of money on an exploratory bid for the Oval Office, said rock star was ready to make an announcement-and his team wanted HARP to be the first media outlet to deliver the news.

Congrats, HARP. You've hit the big time.

How is that possible? I thought such drugs are illegal in the United States?

Yet we've recently seen everyone from Dave Grohl to Paris Hilton to Al Gore to Barack Obama admit to ignoring the prohibition, or at the very least getting caught violating it.

If the prohibition is ineffective and/or ignored, should we consider changing the law, and if so, how?

I'd really like to hear my fellow farkers' opinions on this issue.

We elect Grohl to the office. The rest takes care of itself.

Mr. Anon: Dave Grohl and I ate at the same restaurant at the same time once.

True story.

back when Nirvana was touring small clubs and selling $5 cassettes and t-shirts from a card table set up next to the sound board, they played a Friday/Saturday gig at The Patio in Indianapolis. I was one of about 50 people in the crowd, and during set breaks I would buy them shots of jack and budweiser backs, while we went out in the alley to smoke weed.

my autographed (by all three) copy of Incesticide, was lost forever when my ex-wifes house burned down. I could only imagine what that would be worth today.

BTW - Dave and Krist were pretty cool - bullshiatting around with us and cracking up. Kurt just sat there drinking and smoking, not even thanking us for the drinks. I stopped trying to talk to him after 2 monosyllabic responses to a couple of basic questions.

other than that, it's a good memory.

honestly? I thought the Birdmen of Alcatrazz (the local openers) were the better band.

barjockey 2008-03-19 03:51:12 PM
HARP: What approach do you think we should take in Iraq? Clearly, we made a mistake.

I'm going to make war illegal. I'm going to make war against the law. No war. None. Anywhere.

HARP: Do you have any kind of exit strategy?

When I'm elected President, my cabinet and I would come up with an exit strategy that would involve no killing, no bloodshed, a safe return home and some sort of compensation...

So the Foo Fighters are as unelectable as Obama's surrogate uncle and spiritual advisor, Rev Wright?

I have to agree with you there, but as a drummer I fully support moving a fellow percussionist into the White House so he could use his mad timing and improvisation skills to bring us back into the good graces of the rest of the world. Remember, the drummer always rules the stage.

If pot becomes legal, the price goes up and the quality goes down. It's fine with me because I haven't smoked in years (decades) but that would suck for you young pot heads just starting out.

Funny, I have the opposite stance. I didn't live through Prohibition, but I have been in a lot of liquor stores. There will be markets for different qualities. I can't wait to see the brand names.

I meant to say that if the government was involved then price goes up, quality goes down. If they simply legalize and tax it then get out of the way I believe your scenario is probably more likely.

incircles 2008-03-19 04:30:37 PM
Oh yeah. I also got takeout at a Chinese restaurant where the Dresden Dolls were dining, and Brian Viglione plays drums on the new Nine Inch Nails stuff, and Dave Grohl played drums on With Teeth.

I would vote for Dave over Obama any day of the week. Hussein just became a rock star. Dave's been doing it his whole life. I think more people have fainted at a foo fighters show than at Hussein's rallies. Hussein is scary enough but what scares me the most is these supporters. This guys had more dirt pulled up on him than anyone running for pres ever and people still think he's Jesus. It's amazing that people that talk about so much love and togetherness and change are the one's with so much hate for republicans, Bush and this country. What has Bush ever done but keep us safe from terrorism for seven years and people want to constantly make fun of him all the time, yet you say one controversial thing about Hussein and everyone goes nuts defending this guy. Why don't you defend a man that not only talked about hope and change for the Iraqi people but brought it to them and allowed them for the first time in their lives to experience what it means to have freedom. Shame on anyone that wants to judge our president and our country and shame on any pastor that preaches hate and you go there for 20 years and don't have a problem with it.

mrEdude 2008-03-19 05:11:35 PM
Personally, I'm a little hesitant to vote for anybody who HASN'T used weed or psychedelics. They are good balances of the spirit.

And let's face it, a cocaine and whiskey president has only been all about paranoia and violence.

Being a stoner in the 1970s didn't exactly qualify Bush for the job, did it? Besides, is America ready for another President with a beard? It's only been a bit more than a century.

Who's Dave Grohl?

I call bullshiat on this story. Nirvana never played a show in Indiana. And they certainly weren't playing 50-person gigs after Incesticide was released. You are a filthy dirty liar.

You know, it actually is sad that third parties can't legitimately compete in the US. So many people consider themselves Republicans or Democrats that they vote blindly.

I voted for Perot; I thought he had the most realistic third-party chance to win I'd ever seen. He got 26% of the vote, compared to only 17% more for the smarmy adulterer who became our president for the next 8 years.

I'm sorry, this year it's up to the Democrats to win or lose the election. And by 'lose', I mean 'allow Hillary to keep backstabbing Obama so that McCain waltzes in for 8 more years of the same'. Dave Gruul's Lair should shut his damn yap.
