This is great, because it is impossible to play day tripper on a real guitar.

On a scale from "want" to "do not want", I have to give this a solid "meh". Probably doesn't help that the only beatles songs I really like are the dark ones (i.e. eleanor rigby, strawberry fields, nowhere man etc.)

Now if they coughed up Guitar Hero: Gypsy Kings, I might just cream my pants.

If they were going to dedicate a game solely to one band, you'd think they'd pick one with more interesting guitar.

Can you get a sitar hero expansion pack?

Kudos on the headline, subby.

I'm not a gamer, and have never seen Guitar Hero, but I was at The Pogues show this weekend and Billy Bragg, who was opening, did a rap about what BS the game is, and how you can get the same effect with a tennis racket and a full-length mirror. Kind of funny. He also kidded that all his songs would be on easy mode.

/End of "guess who I saw this week" name-drop.
//The Pogues kicked ass, btw.

But it'll be a lot easier. Rather having to play ON the beat, you'll get full points for playing "KINDA SORTA NEAR THE BEAT-ISH."

If only there was some mind numbing solo guitarist who they could make a guitar hero game about. Say a certain guitarist who, I don't know, wears a bucket on his head. I would buy five of that game. Or maybe they could make one about some awsome viking metal band. But lets be honest we know who will get a game, farking iron maiden.

I think the band/album game is a good idea. I saw one for Aerosmith, wich made me wonder why they are starting with such a terrible band.

Want, as long as it uses the original tracks and not lame-assed covers or something. Last Beatlesploitation thing I watched was "Across the Universe" and it sucked, hard.

it will be good for parties of mixed company. You don't have to have any talent to do the drums, but the guitar will be set on "impossible mode", and you have to play 2 guitars at the same time.

Thisbymaster: or they can just make a game that you can use any music on and will auto create the finger moves for it.

That's about as dumb as the people that want to play on a real guitar and think that they should be able to simply plug it into their console. You just took a hard to program game and turned it into an insanely difficult to program one.

I see handing the Guitar Hero franchise to Neversoft has resulted in the expected whoring out of the franchise.

It still comes off as desperate attempts to stop Rock Band from kicking their ass in every way. More instruments, more songs, more downloadable content (weekly 3-pack of songs vs. occasional songs), the best co-op since Contra, and developed by actual musicians (as opposed to the crew that's been remaking the same damn skateboard game for nearly a decade).

Now comes the part where someone tells me to stomp on turtles and eat every mushroom I see FOR REAL.

There has always been and there will always be only one truly epic and honest band/video game tie-in. All others are but sad attempts to ride its coattails.

My point exactly. I expect it's as popular as the game: watching paint dry (beta version - still full of bugs). As for the odd game where you can in fact plug a guitar into your computer, which has been done (poorly), the biggest obstacles are lag, lag, and quality of sound input. Spending several hundred dollars on a sound card just so you can actually input sound into your computer is the only way to make this work. Common sound cards in computers just don't have the quality of inputs, no pre-amps, etc. On top of all that you've got to ask yourself what the market for a game like that would be: about 300 people. Big seller indeed.

A Guitar Hero: Beatles doesn't really lend itself to being a very good game.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Beatles. But their guitar work isn't - shall we say - the most dramatic out there.

On the other hand, Rock Band: Beatles would be absolutely perfect.

I heard they stopped the tape and put on capos for the key change. (guitars anyway, not sure what the did about the bass.)

And I'd still rather see people spending the money on a real learner guitar. Air guitar crap is bad enough, now we have contests on this crap?

I would think Yoko Ono would be the main boss in the game, since some people blame her for the breakup and all.

That's pretty much what everyone has been saying since the invention of Guitar Hero. Congrats to your cousin for keeping up.
