Dear Mr. Edward Van Halen,

When you kicked Diamond Dave out of the band I said "Fine, it's your band". When you kicked Sammy to the curb, again "Fine". You hire Gary Cherone, "WTF?" but still fine because it's your right even though I may not like it. But when you 'shop founding member Michael Anthony from the cover of your albums and remove his name from song writing credits while replacing him with your 15 year old son, that's when I decided that you can eat a load of shiat and die.

Gary Cherone isn't bad, he just wasn't right for Van Halen.

People giving a shiat, however, is off again.

Cherone just ain't right.

He crawls all over the stage like a farking stripper begging for a dollar.

I saw them both nights in Toronto; absolutely amazing... with the possible exception of the completely inexplicable inclusion of "Little Dreamer" in the set. I'm cool with Wolfgang being in the band (he was way better than I ever imagined he would be - even nailing all of the back-ups), but I'll admit that removing all traces of Michael Anthony is kinda weird. Can't say much about it without knowing the whole story, though.

"unspecified medical condition" is a quick trip to rehab, methinks.

That wasn't Wolfie singing - it was Memorex.

The tour has been selling over 95% in every venue. It's a huge, successful tour.

Yeah, they're dysfunctional, totally fried, over the hill ego maniacs with addiction issues - but they're quite successful at it.

The show is awesome! I never thought I'd get to see Eddie with Dave and it was a great show start to finish, and I didn't miss MA at all.

Michael Anthony's backing vocals made Van Halen's signature harmonies, and he cannot be replaced. He was more important than Dave for Christ's sake. I'd rather see them without a singer than without MA. Eddie, you're the greatest at what you do, but you're really f-n up, dude.

/don't care how good his kid is
//or what his last name is
///it aint VH without MA

I must say the RIM show was pretty nice. Initially I wouldn't have paid to see it, but after getting to watch for free in seats that normally had gone for $90, I didn't have a problem with that.

This article is a repeat, as at least a month ago we were talking about how it's probably cancer with van halen, and back then it stated that shows were going to be re-scheduled and not cancelled

It's a nostalgia show, pure and simple. Remember how you laughed when the "Beach Boys" would tour and it would be Mike Love and John Stamos and shiat, with no Brian Wilson in sight? That's where Van Halen is in their career right now (no pun intended). They haven't had a genuine hit album since For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, which came out when I was in middle school. (I remember because I had the t-shirt and was told not to wear it to school anymore.) I'm now almost 30, and feel old because I remember seeing Wolfie as a toddler. So meanwhile, Eddie's had his issues, Dave's latest endeavor was performing on a bluegrass VH tribute album, and in the meantime Mike's pissed Eddie off by playing with Sammy. (Ah, drama. You guys are in your 50s now. Grow up.) Anyhow, meanwhile they realize that by teaming up they can make a shiatload of money, and it's still not quite as sad as the Beach Boys situation.

Martstar: It's unfortunate how right on you are. They really blew their potential, been dickin' around for the past 17 years. VH could actually still be relevant if Ed would stop pissing everybody off. I mean, Roth has got to be impossible to hang out with for any length of time, but Ed, when everybody's walkin' away from you, maybe you're the problem.

And I call him "Ed" because we're so close.
