Maybe we should ask that big crybaby Scott Tenorman....

Lazy farks couldn't be arsed to put together a halfway decent tune in the last 10 years, and now they want their fans to do their work for them.

I miss the Pablo Honey days when their music was so good the videos were an afterthought.

So much Radiohead hate. I think their more recent electronic minimalistic material is their best. Give me Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief, and In Rainbows any day.

OMG, a band I used to watch on MTV when I was a kid abandoned pop music in favor of icky icky electronic minimalism! Christ on a crutch.

Radiohead is great. In Rainbows is interesting if not outstanding. Might I recommend the Amplive remix of In Rainbows which is available for free (and legal) download Here (new window). There are some cool remixes with Too $hort, Chali2na (the only good rapper in J5), and Del the Funky Homosapien adding vocal tracks.

Will it be the shiatty, whiney song about life being sucky, or the sucky, whiney song about life being shiatty?

To each is own. I think Pablo Honey is their worst album.

Nine Inch Nails just announced basically the same thing (except no prizes). They must be super best friends.

NIN announcement:

Nine Inch Nails is pleased to announce the expansion of the Ghosts project into the visual world. The band has teamed up with YouTube to host a "film festival" around Ghosts. The concept is for you to take whatever tracks you feel inspired by and create what you feel should accompany them visually. You will be able to see all of the submissions, and a team (including Trent) will be sorting through them and setting aside ones they feel are exceptional. Eventually (within a couple of months?) we hope to present a virtual "film festival" with Trent and some special guests presenting selections of your work.

"This isn't a contest and you don't win elaborate prizes - it's meant to be an experiment in collaboration and a chance for us to interact beyond the typical one-way artist-to-fan relationship. We've discussed some interesting ways this could go, including multiple installments of the online "film festivals," to broadcast TV specials, to a one-time live performance of the entire Ghosts record with your visuals involved. It really depends on how this progresses and develops.

We are all very much looking forward to what you come up with, and hope you enjoy the experience. Visit http://www.youtube.com/ninofficial for information on how to participate".

This and the NIN thing both sound kind of fun. If I didn't have to spend the month and a half graduating, I'd probably enter. Any talented farkers in the house that we can stuff the ballot box for?

Been there. Done that. Didn't get the t-shirts or funky vintage 70's track suits

Sure, I'll just sit someone down to read the phone book, while having blinking colored lights flashing around him.

That matches their latest music.

/when we had to walk to school, barefoot, in the snow, uphill, Radiohead made better albums such as OK Computer, and The Bends.

I think they want to be Autechre.

It always amazes me how every Radiohead thread has the usual amount of whiners whining about how they 'lost' the band as soon as they did some slightly experimental, provocative electronic stuff (Kid A onwards). Do these whiners realise that they sound like Britney Spears fans at a Dave Matthews concert?

In Rainbows is Radiohead's greatest work to date.

The old one (that's been hanging round for days, suckered you but not your friends) or the new one (that you do to yourself, and that's what really hurts)? (new window)

All I can say is that I'm wholly stoked for the outland music festival in Golden Gate Park this August, Radiohead being one of the three main radio-headliners, along with Tom Petty and one of those faggy acoustic guitarists who sucks arse but girls seem to like.

But it should be sweet. I really like their new album. Super mellow, with none of their noise/exploration of sounds they've put out on recent albums. Just pure music.

It's not the worst thing I've ever heard, but I find it to be not as good as OK Computer. It moves to the side of musical masurb_tion at times.

The thing that really pisses me off in music today; bad covers of GREAT Joy Division songs. I was in a guitar store the other night, and had the displeasure of having to listen to some hipster whine into a megaphone effect on said song.

I'm a recording engineer, and I'm fully entitled to my opinion on this, as such.

I thought Radiohead's recent cover of Ceremony was pretty good. (New Order, I know, but... just sayin')

And yes, I know that Joy Division performed it also, but...

Never mind, I'm just digging the hole deeper.
