Ok, that's impressive... and disturbing. I'm imagining I just beat some RPG about drugs... this would be great credit music.

pretty simple midi sequencer, looks like you could just take the sheet music and punch it in there...

Ah, Mario Paint. Those were some good times. My favorite was the fly-swatting game for the mouse.

That ain't actual Mario Paint for the SNES. Mario Paint didn't allow for sharps, flats, or notes above or below the clef.

That said, it was still pretty bleeding awesome.

I came across this chap some time ago doing a number of video game themes perfectly like this.

That's nothing compared to this.

Yeah, it's Mario Composer. It looks and sounds pretty much like Mario Paint, but you can do sharps/flats (obviously) and a few more improvements on the original. You can download it for PC and run it without an emulator too.

Now if only someone would do The Final Countdown on Mario Paint Composer.

Hell, they did Chocolate Rain. Why the hell not?

1:43 in (new window)

I remember doing this kind of thing years ago with "Music Construction Set".

It would have been better if he used Styx's "Too Much Time On My Hands"

Reminds me of the Horrible MIDI Jukebox I created about ten years ago. (Pops, but contains much MIDI horrorilarity.)

Well... that pretty much made my morning.

I did it, but it sounds pretty crappy and I don't feel like putting it on Youtube.

Sucked. Sounds like the sequencing I used to do on my Amiga 500 with Octamed circa 1987. Only more tinny and NES-sounding.

TheSuperFunk 2008-03-17 02:33:43 PM
That's not Mario Paint.. that's Mario Paint Composer. It's still impressive, but you have a few more options, like the ability to hold notes and you have access to Sharp and Flat notes. This would be impossible in Mario Paint.

meh. I wrote a BASIC program back in the dark ages that would play Asia's "Heat of the Moment" and flashed different colors with each note.

I think it was 500 lines and would have made an MS Office sw engineer blush at its size and inefficiency.
