You see, had this happen in the U.S., the homeowner would've just shot the uninvited guests. Problem solved.

Besides, they seem to have enough money to replace everything if they live in a farking 21 bedroom house & can hire bouncers for a farking party.

Not the chandeliers, anything but the chandeliers!

Yeah. That is sooo right! People who have money DESERVE to have there things destroyed! They can just replace them. Well I am off to go key some expensive cars. They shouldn't mind, they can just buy new ones.

People still listen to FM ?

The only time I use my FM tuner is to find a new station to park my XM receiver on.

But she was expecting 300 guests already!?

Four bouncers were enough for 300 guests at a teenager's party?

I think not. I think this house was doomed to get trashed from the moment someone said "yup, four should do it".

Why? When you make a claim against your insurance, your rates usually go up.

Do you use any streaming media? Pandora / SpiralFrog / etc?
FM is dying. Between streaming media and companies like Clear Channel, FM isn't going to last. [In the US] The FCC will re-allocate that band to something else eventually. Look what they're doing with UHF/VHF bands.

I hear more new music in a day on XM than you'll hear in a week on any big market radio station. Plus, I have a selection of music that you will never find on the FM dial. And I don't think I could fit a days worth of programming onto a 64MB chip like you can w/ most radio stations.

All that said, I remember calling stations for this very reason, and having 100+ people show up @ house parties. But the cops were usually right behind them as .... Wow.. Cops listened to the radio too.

bake2 2008-03-16 09:51:46 AM
A BBC spokesman said the announcer did not reveal the exact address of the party but read out details of a "mansion party" taking place in Bovey Tracey which had been provided by a listener.

Now this bit of info is interesting. I'd say the extra 1700 guests weren't all because of the radio station. This sounds like several (hundred) invited people went around spreading the word to everyone they farking knew. When you are already expecting 300 people, you have to expect more, especially when 17 year old kids are involved. I bet there wasn't a high school aged kid within a 50 mile radius that didn't know about this party before it was on the radio. This kind of thing happened all the time in high school. You invite 15 people, and 30 or 40 show up.

IKillBugs 2008-03-16 09:58:02 AM
Wow, 300 friends...That sounds like an entire grade level at my old high school. I can't imagine inviting even 1/10 of those douche bags to my home.

But the reason why you have insurance is to cover large losses... Oh nevermind.

My ex roommate had a low APR fixed rate mortgage and he decided to lose his house because he was bored with working. (So, he's a DUMBASS) His car is badly damaged from a collision, but he didn't get it fixed because he didn't want his insurance company to know. Kicker: The crash was when he was still making payments on the car.

I'm willing to bet that the radio station had less to do with it than the 300 teenagers that already knew about it and each brought a friend or 3.

FTFA - "...but about 2000 ended up on her doorstep after one guest telephoned the a BBC announcer Peter Tong and asked him to do a "shout-out" to anyone who wanted to join the celebrations."

Oh, THAT was stupid of the DJ. Even if some of those extra people were there due to word of mouth, there's no doubt the announcement exacerbated things. Seriously, once you say "mansion party" and the general area the party is being given, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which mansion is throwing the party based on a cluster of parked cars, costumed people walking to and fro, etc.

I look at poor people the same way. Since they have nothing it's OK to walk all over them and exploit their labor for an unlivable wage. It's not like they know what its like to be able to buy everything they want. They have nothing and are use to it.

Why have insurance at all then? There's no point paying for it if you can't/won't use it when you suffer a catastrophic loss.

Side note: one claim will not jack up your rates AFAIK.

If a radio station ever gives your street address and says there's a party there, you'd better RUN TO THE GARAGE and start boarding the windows, and park your cars across your driveway.

Then load your guns and wait.

/because they comin' man, they comin.

Guns aren't allowed in the UK because Mary Poppins supposedly controls the country. In their little rose colored world....
