Wow, wish I had a quality DVD of the entire show that this vid came from. They were "on" that night.

I won tickets to a killer outdoor show in 1980... Nash the Slash (google him), J. Geils Band, Heart and The Who. Heart played for two solid hours and were just as good as that clip. Those were the days.

Ann was gorgeous until she became Mama Cass, but she still has one hell of a voice. Nancy is still gorgeous...

That was awesome. I always assumed they were carried by their studio/touring band. Shows what I know.

dmax 2008-03-16 10:20:35 AM
MAN that was good.

I sat there noticing the intense background oooohs, the song arrangement, the energy. Ain't no lipsynchin there, was there?

Great great stuff. What a way to start a long day of shooing kids off my lawn.

Thanks, and HB Nancy!

That clip is from the Texxas Jam 1978, I think.

The_Philosopher_King 2008-03-16 12:15:14 PM
They do a hell of a cover of Zep's Battle of Evermore.

Damn good for live (new window)

It is a fairly recent clip. The Blonde is aging well

WIN! You are a gentleman truly worthy of the Stompn_Tom handle. Likes the AIC, and the girl is cute and has pipes, did I mention cute...dangerouly so.

Snuck into a concert of theirs in 1977 at SDSU. They were awesome, but they were forced to play Barracuda about 20 times since they only had five songs.

Fark you subby for making me feel old.

B*tch Zeppelin

I saw them three times during the mid-late 80's. They could sure put on a show. Funny to see they always dressed like pirates on acid.

Holy CRAP... that was Nancy!!!?? I never put 2+2 together. Awesome.

This thread's old and busted by now, but I type away anyway since I'm drunk. I saw Heart twice... once in 1986-ish, when they were MTV soulless darlings, all about big hair and colorful clothing, and they completely went through the motions in what was one of the worst concerts I ever saw. Despite being big hitmakers, you could tell they were unhappy with the direction of their career, it completely came through. Then, maybe 7 years ago, saw them again at my local state fair, and it was amazing. They've reclaimed their music, back to doing it THEIR way. Nancy's got guitar chops, Ann's got unbelievable pipes. One of the most powerful singers in the history of rock. Her acoustic version of "Alone" is chilling, and shows that buried deep underneath that 80's overproduced synthesized dreck there's actually a really pretty song. Rock on, Wilson girls. Go see 'em if you can.

Yup, Ann Wilson of Heart and Freddie Mercury of Queen, the best rock vocalists ever.

Heart is the first band that I ever saw in concert and they are still one of my favorite bands.

My favorite song: Dog & Butterfly
