The school should sue this dad, for providing the children with genes that made them obvious idiots. They had to probably waste a LOT of time on these farktards over the years.

He's the moron for paying almost half a million dollars to send his kids to school.

Public school may not be the best, but it damn sure costs a lot less than that.

In a defence filed with the court, lawyers for Brighton Grammar said the school had provided special assistance to the boys throughout their schooling.

The boys were also given extra language and maths classes and speech therapy in primary school years, according to the school.

FAIL!

wumpus 2008-03-16 12:52:02 AM
I can kind of see where the father is coming from. The school shouldn't have let the kids keep advancing, but that would have just cost him more $. So it seems the school actually made things cheaper by spitting the idiots out after 13 years instead of constantly holding them back.

twfeline 2008-03-16 12:52:14 AM
Father's pampered snowflakes probably sit around every free moment playing video games, instead of studying. And probaby spend all day in class, sending text messages on their expensive cell phones that Daddy bought them.

I blame:

What were the kids' grades in years 9, 10 & 11 - Straight A's or low D's?

If it is the former then I think something else is going on here and if it is the latter then these kids would have failed final exams at any school.

Surely there were signs something was wrong long before theses exams. If only, I don't know, the freakin' parents took some interest in the progress of there crotchfruit.

Tuition is paid for the school to teach the boys; that does not by any means guarantee that the boys will learn! A little parental responsibility is in order here; did dad check his sons homework or did he let them let them play video games after school?

I know this story is from Limeyland, not here, but IIRC you can be pretty goddamn braindead and still complete K-12 (worked for me!) At least 50% of students must've looked as retarded as these two precious snowflakes. If the schoolss are expected to hold some sort of academic Intervention for every kid who's "struggling" and quite obviously just doesn't give a damn, well then that's most of the school. These two runts probably didn't stand out too much from the rest of the idiotic pack.

You want your kids to not suck, you gotta help them yourself. Nobody knows how stupid a kid is more than his/her parents (or failing that, the kid's P.O.) The school's got nine million precious little snowflakes and can't give the attention to yours that you can. Go to the school and say, "my spawn are absolute 'tards! Please treat them accordingly!"

Does it say they flunked their school year anywhere?
It sounds like they took the classes and flunked the standardized tests. If they got good grades, but the school didn't cover the advertised curricula, he may have a point. Maybe.

Now, now, let's not rush to conclusions. It's always possible the school is just a bunch of money-grabbing lazy asses who didn't do nearly everything they could with these twins.

The fact remains, though, that suing the school for tuition is asinine in every possible way. I mean, how could the father have not noticed the kids were failing classes before twelfth grade? What kind of dumbass takes thirteen years (kindergarten included) to notice how badly his twins are doing? farkhead hotshot law firm partner should've taken a greater interest in their educational careers long before this.

My mum and dad paid for me to get a private school education, and I bombed miserably (this was not due to a lack of intelligence - more laziness, mixed with new found love of alcohol, pot and penith).

I got a gigantic smack around the head and arse, which is what these two junior douchebags require, not daddy suing the school.

/funny thing is, career wise I'm more successful than those that made it to Uni and graduated.

This sounds perfectly reasonable.
A lawyers son doesnt get properly educated so lawyer should get a refund.
Any client of this lawyer, who has ever been convicted of a crime or had a judgement against them in court, should get their money back from him too.

Former 6th-grade teacher here. Haven't been since June '98, thankfully.

A woman on the school board was the parent of a mischevious, lazy child in my class. He rarely did anything constructive. When I brought it up more than twice, she told me to leave her alone; she can't handle the pressure; he's still mourning his dad's death from 1st grade (he was also the HS principal in that district..........). It also must be my fault since I'm a brand new teacher......

I gave him a gift and passed him in my science class with a D- at the year's end. Three weeks into summer vacation, I get an irate phone call, replete with swearing, threats for my job, etc., "How could you do this?!"

Moral of the story? Don't ever be a teacher unless you're straight from the set of Dead Poets' Society yourself.

/Filling vending machines now for perpetually the same pay as a 3rd year teacher...Very Happily

I had a few classmates in college who just assumed that taking the class meant that you'd pass it. Reguardless of how much studying the classmate did, how well or badly you did on the tests, or even if you showed up to class or not. They just assumed that once you paid the money, you'd get credit, and if you weren't passing then the teacher was your personally biatch until you passed or they just passed you.

Well, for those classmates, and the family in TFA, I have the following:

He'd probably say something along the lines of "You can't divide by zero, therefore that proof is invalid."

If you are semantically treating "No" as a negative (which is implied by how it is factored out), it would look like this.

-study = fail
study = -fail

-study + study = fail + -fail
study(-1 + 1) = fail (1 + -1)

In canceling out, the picture omitted the fact that canceling out involves division.

[since (-1 + 1) = (1 + -1) they can be used interchangeably.]

cancelling out:

study(-1 + 1) / (-1 + 1) = fail(1 + -1) / (-1 + 1)

-1 + 1 is 0 and you can't divide by 0.

what this proof does prove is that

study(0) = fail(0)
0=0

and it doesn't go any further than that.

As good as the school might be, it ain't Hogwarts and they can't magically remove that extra chromosome that you've gifted your sprats, Dad.

Give the twins a shiny new box of crayons as a school leaving gift and wish them well with their new careers in the exciting field of medical test subject.

I came in to say something about personal responsability... but he has a point, paying big $ to send your kids to a private school and that private school should live up to the main reason parents send their kids to them. To get a better edjumacation, not fail.

What's cool is that you can show that somewhat depends on a divide by zero error.

-study = fail
study = -fail

-study + study = fail - fail
(-1 + 1)study = (1 - 1)fail
0*study = 0*fail

math: fail! :D
