See, pro-Hussein anti-occupation resistence fighter groups hate al-Qaeda and hate terrorism, which shows how wrong we were about Hussein's regime. It also makes their "operations" against U.S. military targets and all the killed or injured soldiers totally justified, because, they hate al-Qaeda and just have the interest of their people in mind and we imposed freedom on them.

/What a load of bs.

Not to nitpick, but there were casualties in Bosnia. I lost a few friends and comrades in that muddy shiathole.

I realize that they were all related to going off the side of a mountain or crossing into territory that was certified 'mine-free' (50% mine contamination in that country) or being on the wrong side of a riot or a weapon seizure. Nothing dramatic, but soldiers did die over there.

Sorry about the threadjack. Just brought back some memories.

So long as the USA keeps paying him, he will be their friend. As soon as everyone in Congress realizes that they will lose their plutocratic position because the money hole in Iraq is tanking the economy, they will quit paying him. Then he will once again be the enemy of the USA. If his Iraqi friends don't take him out and drill holes in his head with a screwgun for being in the wrong tribe first.

That's funny. I'm glad your lack of anger management ability is put to good use in the US military. If actually had any reading ability, you would have realized that he never targeted any of his fellow Iraqi citizens. But you obviously lack the reading ability of a 12 year old to distinguish this, or you're too ignorant and think that all brown people are the same. In either case, I'll continuing working and consuming goods and paying taxes, taxes which I assume pays your military paycheck. But yes I'm a crappy American, I can actually tell the difference between an Iraqi Patriot fighting for his homeland and an Afghani terrorist trying to destroy America.

Then again, I can also show you the difference between Iraq and Afghanistan, which your glorious president evidently is unable to do so.

I also love your sense of compassion for demanding this guy be executed, but seeing as how you're from Texas, I'm not very suprised. Good job, fighting the stereotypes of Texans.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank you for somehow protecting America, my freedom, and my American way of life as soon as you can tell me how destroying another nation (which was never a threat), and now attempting to rebuild it, somehow constitutes protecting my freedom.

And I know you fight them over there, so you don't have to fight them in America, but over there is Afghanistan (which you're losing btw), so you're not really there.

And your insults, they seem pretty juvenile and low level in intelligence. Tell me, are you in the Marines? Infantry? That's where they send all the smart ones you know (Infantry).

Actually, this is a very common sentiment. al-Qaeda in Iraq has never had more than miniscule support since it started killing more than US invaders. Since Sunni and Shia both agree that they don't like 'em, can we pull out now and let them eradicate AQiI?

I respect the Soldiers who are fighting in Iraq at the moment. They are doing a tough job and should be praised. However, what I resent is the fact that they are fighting a war, which should have never been started. I resent how the current regime capitalized off of a legitimate cause (Afghanistan) and used it to forward their own agenda.

Defeat or withdrawal is not an option in either arenas. A war has been started, America has to stay as long as need be.

I served in the regular US Army so I'm getting a kick out of these noob's replies.

Isn't it sad when a senior U.S. Army General is forced out of his job because he voiced misgivings about his Commander-in-Chimps dumbassishness?

I recall a similar episode, documented well: the time when another would-be DICKtator tried to impose his Divine Will upon the World, and his Senior Commanders balked. They were fired (or otherwise executed.)

Wars and foreign policy in general makes for strange ever shifting alliances. During World War II we supported to one degree or another Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh and De Gaulle. That sure came to bite us in the rear later but serve our needs at the time.
History is filled with such examples.

KOSOVO
1999
DURATION IN DAYS: 77

U.S. BATTLE DEATHS: 0
TOTAL U.S. DEATHS: 2

"An Apache tank-busting helicopter crashed in a nighttime training exercise in Albania early Wednesday, killing the two U.S. airmen aboard.
A NATO official said the helicopter probably hit a power or phone line."

I would like to take a moment to point out that whatever official statistics are released, they are not necessarily the truth of the situation. I know that during the Korean war, we ran many incursions into mainland china, becuase the Chinese were the ones actually running that war. Regardless of what the statistics say, soldiers have died in nameless hellholes with no name and no identity. Hundreds of shallow graves hold the bodies of our men the world over who died in "training exercises" or from "accidental death" at the hands of the enemy.

Remember the Fallen

Maybe instead of being pissed off on the fact that these guys want to kill you, maybe you should ask yourself Why the fark you're over there in the first place and why they want to kill you. If you think its one of those BS answers that your leader gives you like, "they hate our freedom our democracy or way of life." Maybe you should use your noggin and display some critical thinking. They wouldn't be shooting at you if you weren't over there, and if you were helping making their country a better place, they definitely wouldn't be targeting you. You think that you being part of the Military makes you a better American, and because you're in the US military that automatically makes you some sort of good guy? I'm pretty sure you're too drenched and caught up with your own propaganda, but if you actually took a step back and looked at the big picture, you would realize why you might not be liked so much, after 'some of your fine fellow Americans' you served beside helped even further ruin what was already a shiatty country and life for the Iraqi people. At least back in Saddam's time. The people knew who were the good guys and who were the bad guys, where the bullets were coming from, and their normal flow of electricity water, and employment. You helped made the life of the Iraqi people go from bad to worse.

Thats where I am deploying next, and we will NOT lose it, despite people like you trying your best to stop us from any form of success. Thats why I thank God people like you make no difference in this world, other than your own pathetic self consumed life. It makes me sleep better at night.

If you can win in Afghanistan, that's great. But according to the scoreboard, you're losing and losing fairly big time. Majority of the country is unstable, and the heroin trade is back to is norm. The troops only have the capital and a few areas secured but most of the country is owned by the bad guys. Again, you can thank Bush for sending you to Iraq and making America one of the more hated countries in the world. But hey, you still got to execute his goals and agenda.

Tell me, are you in the Marines? Infantry? That's where they send all the smart ones you know (Infantry).

Funny, the military is practically begging people to join. I wonder how much of a struggle they put up when you demanded to be an organic bullet stopper. I'm happy you're amused. Hey, the world needs ditch diggers too. I just didn't know some would actually be proud of being a ditchdigger. To each his own I guess.

I hope one day you see past your blind hatred.

I don't have much hatred, in fact I kind of pity you. You're just a small pawn in a giant chessboard, which strategic moves are decided by one of the biggest idiot president in American history. Some would even call you a tool, but you're not even that. Essentially you're just a component of a giant tool. Your job, position, and very existence to this 'chessmaster' is replaceable and easily dispensable. You might think of yourself as some form of Hero or patriot, or a true citizen of the USA, but on the flip side, you just might be viewed as one of those foolish bastards that just got caught up in the hype and wasn't smart enough to know any better.
