Christine was great but she retired. Most of Fleetwood Mac would like to continue except Stevie who said she wouldn't anymore without Christine. Having her friend Sheryl in the fold will likely change her mind... and I find Sheryl Crow to be quite good.

Now, I would prefer a Peter Green fronted Fleetwood Mac belting out some yummy blues again but it's not going to happen so I think Sheryl will add immensely to the current incarnation of the band.

Don't like her? Good. Don't go see 'em. See how easy that is?

I'd love to see Fleetwood Mac with Sheryl Crow and Lindsey Buckingham and without goat woman Stevie Nicks. I'll give Stevie some credit, but I HATE her caterwauling, she's an awful singer who's primary contribution to the band is flipping her hair and changing clothes. Oh, and twirling, can't forget twirling.

Sheryl Crow shows more talent in one day than Stevie has in her entire coke whore bleating life.

Still, the original Peter Green-era Mac was the best incarnation of the band. I also much prefer the Bob Welch-era Mac to the current version. Bob did some mighty cool stuff.

Gold Dust Woman and Rhiannon are okay. The bleating is not terrible. Sheryl Crow has some amazing songs but also some sappy songs. That's not terrible either, it's worked for Paul McCartney all these years.

Kevin Gilbert fans aren't like fans of other dead musicians. We carry around all this unresolved bitterness and all it takes is a thread like this to set us off.

Maybe we see, in Kevin's relationship with Sheryl, a reflection of our own deeply dysfunctional relationships with women. Maybe once we trusted a woman too much.

There are two facts we just have to accept: The first is that Kevin is dead, and will continue to be so. The second is that Sheryl is fabulously wealthy and famous and respected and will also continue to be so. And there is dick-all any of us can do about it. All we can do is learn from Kevin's mistakes.

The world is a deeply unfair place, so cover your ass. And the next time you meet a fabulously talented musician who is feeling down on himself and looks like he's about ready to pack it in, let him know how much you respect him. Buy him a beer, maybe give him a hug. If possible, jam with him at some point. Because you never know when it'll be too late.
