Enough of those silly top 10, top 20, top 50, and top 100 lists. This one goes to 1,000.

dletter [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 10:56:06 AM
This must be their new strategy. Make the list so long we can't really read it all and call it stupid.

satchel13 2008-03-14 12:22:58 PM
No Butthole Surfers? You've got to be kidding me! Live PCPPEP should be required listening!

/I smoke Elvis Presley's toenails when I wanna get high!
//Brilliant!

Crewmannumber6 2008-03-14 12:59:18 PM
couldn't get through the "A's". First Aaiiyliea (or however the fark you spell it), then Christina Agullera.

kungfu jesus with a side of lime 2008-03-14 01:01:53 PM

kungfu jesus with a side of lime 2008-03-14 01:04:52 PM
then I made the mistake of actually looking at the list, and am hyper raged by the absence of buckethead. This list is 1000 types of suck

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 01:07:35 PM
How can i do a list that wont be deemed a fail?

make it 1000, of course.

Stupid.

And I agree, this list is nothing without:
images.amazon.com

FeedTheCollapse 2008-03-14 01:09:57 PM
My Bloody Valentine's Isn't Anything over Loveless? No farking way! Hell, Isn't Anything isn't even as good the You Made Me Realise EP.

I knew something was up when they listed an NERD album...

Mr_Fabulous 2008-03-14 01:10:52 PM
A thousand? A fokking thousand? Jesus-tap-dancing-Christ, what's the goddamn point of this?

Fark you in the ear. Seriously.

scottycujo 2008-03-14 01:17:20 PM
No Megadeth - Rust In Peace?

This list sucks.
It only got greenlit because Iron Maiden is on it.

How come my previous submissions on Amon Amarth weren't greenlit?

/Pre-emptive Strike

brody074 2008-03-14 01:20:46 PM

/love teh Hawkwind
//jeeza though, they're ridiculous

...The Spice Girls?...Are you kidding me????

Millzners 2008-03-14 01:34:44 PM
Bon Jovi 'Slippery When Wet'? FAIL!!

likefunbutnot [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 01:40:48 PM
Absolutely no classical music makes this entirely irrelevant. Teeny tiny bit of jazz is teeny tiny bit helpful.

Ace Frehley's Ghost 2008-03-14 01:43:00 PM
Let's see, surely Black Sabbath Vol IV or Master of Reality is on this list...

Alright then, Reign in Blood by Slayer... of course not.

Iron Butterfly... no.

Primus... no.

Okay, this list officially sucks.

MensRea 2008-03-14 01:44:22 PM
No Anthrax (not even Among the Living or Persistence of Time)?

Fail.

Torc 2008-03-14 01:48:51 PM

From T Rex to Uncle Tupelo

Instant double fail.

phedex 2008-03-14 01:52:28 PM
Reign in blood is on the list, as is master of puppets.

however, im disturbed by the lack of either "Peace sells...but whos buying?" or "Rust In Peace".

vicejay [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 02:02:17 PM
What? No Steely Dan?

phedex 2008-03-14 02:02:28 PM

Damn... I must really be tired today to have missed Reign in Blood.

I'm sure they missed Sleep's Dopesmoker, didn't RTFA.

Gratch 2008-03-14 02:13:44 PM
Not a single Skinny Puppy album? Last Rights and/or Too Dark Park should be required listening for everyone.

Gestalt 2008-03-14 02:17:51 PM
I just came in here to say if you really must throw in a Bloc Party album, atleast make it Silent Alarm and not A Weekend in the City.

/also, WTF, no Blonde Redhead?

The Notorious HIV 2008-03-14 02:21:15 PM
The point I've taken from this article is that there's a lot less than a thousand decent albums that have ever been made.

Glad to see 69 Love Songs is on it, tho.

Ok, seriously, they had room for britney spears and spice girls but no sublime? Come on, now.

Ablejack 2008-03-14 02:33:04 PM
They should make a top 10 Million Album list. There would have to be some stellar stuff on that.

Aphex Twin
Selected Ambient Works 85-92 (1992)
Mischief-making wunderkind Richard D James materialised from the west country bearing synthesizers of his own devising and a good yarn about writing music in his dreams. Aphex's fragility, eccentricity and sinister beauty drew up a new blueprint for techno that aimed to colonise the brain rather than the dancefloor.

This.

I like SAW I, but I've always thought it was pretty dated. SAW II sounds like almost nothing else.

suicide 2008-03-14 02:42:54 PM
well, it has minor threat, lead belly, neutral milk hotel, slint and spiritualized, so im happy. i could do without the lack of dead kennedys and giving pretty hate machine the nod over the downward spiral, though.

and what Torc and FeedTheCollapse said.

LiQuid! 2008-03-14 02:58:45 PM
This is mental. It's just a list of every popular album of all time.

Third_Uncle_Eno 2008-03-14 03:38:24 PM
I have one or two issues with ones that I saw on there:
Wire - Chairs Missing. I like to think that "Pink Flag" is better, but meh... C.M. has more dark atmosphere and synths.

Peter Gabriel 4 [security]. I would've liked to see III on there instead, seeing as how i think the latter is the stronger record... but still Side one of Security kicks some serious ass. And the first two tracks on side two are pretty good as well. The rest....not so much. I'm just glad they didn't put II or So on there.

REM - Fables...
UGH. I *HATE* that album. I would've liked to see "Lifes Rich..." or "Automatic for the People" instead...

T Rex - Electric Warrior
hmmmm.. me thinks "The Slider" is a better album, but this one is probably his most famous...

Decemberists - Her Majesty
W...T....F??? "Picaresque" or their Debut is about 5x better than "Her Majesty" IMHO... to me, "H.M." is too acoustic folky for my tastes...

Rush - 2112
I think it's interesting they picked this one...
I would've gone with this one or Hemispheres or Moving Pictures or even A farewell to Kings.

Elton John - GYBR
is a great pick.... for me it'd either be that one or Captain Fantastic. Close tie. Maybe even Tumbleweed connection.

But they get **big points** from me for including the following:
Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells A Story
Eno - Another Green World
Byrne/Eno - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
801 - 801 Live
the Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
The Jam - Sound Affects
Bryan Ferry - the Bride Stripped Bare.
Lou Reed - Berlin
Tangerine Dream - Phaedra

BUT.....
what?
No....
Residents?
Dire Straits?

Third_Uncle_Eno 2008-03-14 03:41:26 PM
No.... Yes?
Electric Light Orchestra?
ELP?

Aquatic Bee 2008-03-14 03:47:55 PM
I was displeased by the lack of Dismemberment Plan and Negativland

/pleased with the inclusion of Pavement
//and Neutral Milk Hotel
///and X
////and especially X-Ray Spex

As a frothy, die hard Decemberists fan, I'm gonna throw a vote on Castaways and Cutouts as their best album to date. Picaresque isn't even in the same league as C&C or HM.

Gulper Eel [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 04:03:48 PM
No Lyle Lovett.
No John Hiatt.
No Alison Krauss.

nmhansen 2008-03-14 04:07:55 PM
No Mr. Bungle - California? - 1
Adding in Moby - Play? - 1

This list gets a big -2.

incircles 2008-03-14 04:23:45 PM
Yes isn't on the list?
And neither are the Legendary Pink Dots.

Fail.
