As a Floridian, all I can add is "this is true".

Because of the vast difference in incomes in Florida, we have had
an upper class and a lower class (but don't tell them that) for years and the upper class gets their way, regardless of the law. Now this has passed into the election process on the national scene, much to Florida's disgrace.

/Like we needed to be disgraced any more

God damn it. God damn it. Jesus farking christ.

I cannot believe and refuse to accept that Frank Cerabino got a f*cking article greenlit on Fark.

This douchebag has one of those "You know what really grinds my gears?" columns in the paper here. He's a newspaper troll.

Instead of commenting further on the subject of Florida and all of its retarded douchebaggery, I will simply pound my head on the desk several times until I'm unconscious. It would actually be less painful.

Florida should be allowed to vote six or seven times.
These things take several trials. First we all vote for Pat Buchanan, then we vote for McCain, then for Hillary, then the courts need to be involved, then we recount, then re-vote then repeat.

FTFA: The Florida Democratic Party - the same group of line-jumping enthusiasts whose actions made our votes not count the first time - wants to run the revote.

This is like getting a knock on the door from the guy who mugged you, but this time he's asking you to join the neighborhood crime watch.

masiahjo 2008-03-14 08:47:45 AM
As a Floridian I apologize on the states behalf for their ass-hattery. We screwed up and we don't want to accept the punishment. Please don't ever let us vote in another election ever again. 2000, 2004 and all the people we send to Washington; can you tell most of us have no idea what the hell we are doing? It is moments like this that make me ashamed to be born and raised in Florida, I am sorry. Once again on behalf of all dumb ass Floridians we are sorry, please take away all voting rights, immediately.

Sincerely,
Masiahjo

/P.S. We are extremely sorry for the future mess that is Rhonda Storms. If you don't know her now you will soon.

I know there are rules. Florida republicans got the primary moved up, and national democrats punished the Florida democrats for it.

All I am saying is that the national party screwed up, and the people still wanted to be heard.

Let Florida stand and maybe do some type of revote in Michigan. Obama will wipe the floor with Hillary there.

seabass242: I know there are rules. Florida republicans got the primary moved up, and national democrats punished the Florida democrats for it.

Florida republicans AND democrats got the primary moved up.

If state democrats had complained and protested and perhaps, y'know, not voted to move the primary up then I'd have some sympathy for them.

All I am saying is that the national party screwed up, and the people still wanted to be heard.

The national party established rules that the state party agreed to and then ignored. Hmmm...doesn't sound to me like its the national party that screwed up.

Let Florida stand and maybe do some type of revote in Michigan. Obama will wipe the floor with Hillary there.

I say redo both or redo neither and leave them out.

So Florida should be allowed to continue as is because you broke the rules more blatantly?

If you want a re-vote in FL I'm fine with that. Letting votes stand as is seems foolish due to Hillary's "private fund raising events" that definitely were not campaigning.

skinnycatullus [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 09:36:58 AM
seabass242: All I am saying is that the national party screwed up, and the people still wanted to be heard.

If Florida's votes stand as they are, the national party loses its ability to enforce the rules. Other states will move their primaries up as far as possible with the knowledge there will be no real consequences.

I'm willing to vote again or just accept that the delegates won't count. Seating the delegates as they were apportioned in January is simply not good for the party's future. It's trying to be portrayed as disenfrachisement, but parties set their own rules and can choose delegates as they see fit. It's not like a normal election where the government guarantees citizens the right to vote. Democratic (and Republican) voters do not have any legally guaranteed right to participate in their party's nominating process. To pretend otherwise is merely an attempt to frame the debate in a dishonest manner.

All that having been said, Obama wins this race under any reasonable scenario. Clinton will not make any significant gains in delegates won from here on out. Any gains in PA will not be significant and will be wiped out by NC and other Obama wins. If it goes all the way to the convention, Clinton will have to convince the vast majority of the remaining uncommitted superdelegates to support her. That simply won't happen unless Obama starts eating children on live television.
