If I see her remind me to break into "100 bottles of beer on the wall".

Pixies are one of my top five bands of all times.

Glad to see Kim is doing well.

She must be saving all the creativity she didn't put into the bass lines of all the Pixies albums up for the trite-90s alterna rock version of 'November Rain'.

As opposed to "himmy-shake, himmy-shake, himmmmmmmmmy-shake" from that "Cannonball" song?

Have you seen her lately? A little puking now and then might do her some good.

All I know is that if I have to hear "Everyday is a Winding Road" again, I will join in the nauseation.

Sheryll Crow has about two good songs. One of them is a cover.

I am a bassist. I like her bass lines. Gigantic is a great example. It's so simple, yet it is perfect.

Kim Deal = Win

That is all.

I would hit it like...well...like a cannonball. Cute, talented, great bass player, Ohio home-girl. What's not to like?

/admittedly middle-aged so standards are lower. Still, her voice is sexy as hell and so is she. Yep.

I try not to think about how so much of the music I like follows the same tired formula of verse, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, chorus. Granted, I listen to plenty that doesn't, but whenever I realize how ridiculous it is that so many songs are built on the same foundation I feel a little silly for playing along.

I really like Sheryl Crow and don't think that's a fair characterisation of her writing style. If anything, she goes on a bit.

nopokerface [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 08:30:03 AM
The Deal sisters are both biatches. And I don't like Sheryl Crowe either.

bthemonarch 2008-03-14 08:39:38 AM
I'm not a huge Sheryl Crowe fan, but who the fark is she to be on some high songwriting horse. A repeated chorus can and has been used by many other artists to great effect.

Bob Dylan "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and many others

Jack White "Sugar never tasted so good" and many others

I'm not trying to do a thesis so these are the best examples I can come up with now, but seriously it's almost a standard in song writing.

/pretenious biatch

if you're just out of heroin rehab, jimmy chamberlin is NOT the person to start a band with,,,,

"Head over heels" by Alanis Morissette is the most repetitive song ever. Well, maybe not the most but it's damn repetitive. I was a freshman in high school, sitting in music class, watching some girl do a presentation on her while the song kept playing in the background over and over and over and over and over and over

A Clockwork Morissette.

She's right repeating the chorus over and over again is lame.

Lyrics > Cannonball

Ahoo Ahooh Ahooh Ahooh Ahooh Ahooh
Spitting in a wishing well
Blown to hell... crash
I'm the last splash
I know you, little libertine
I know you're a real koo koo

Hey now, hey now, ...
Want you, Koo Koo, Cannonball [2x]
In the shade [4x]

I know you, little libertine
I know you're a cannonball
I'll be you're whatever you want
The bong in this Reggae Song

Hey now, hey now, ...
Want you, Koo Koo, Cannonball [2x]
In the shade [4x]

Spitting in a wishing well
Blown to hell... crash
I'm the last splash
I'll be you're whatever you want
The bong in this Reggae Song

Hey now, hey now, ...
Want you, Koo Koo, Cannonball [2x]
In the shade [4x]

I love the Breeders and the Pixies... but..

She hasnt played a show in Dayton forever. There was suppoused to be a Pixies show a few years back here, but they canceled.

Apparently she still lives next door to an old ex-girlfriend of mine. Taught a really good friend of mine how to play some Bass too.

Although I heard she's kind of a biatch in person. Very full of herself from what I understand. Basically "Im in the Pixies, worship me".

In the meantime, Rob Pollard is still cool.

I never understood the fandom of Sheryl Crow and Lenny Kravitz.

jrfaulkin 2008-03-14 03:55:04 PM
And what about "Gigantic?" Doesn't she sing the chorus "Gigantic, a big, big love" like 50 times?

monsieurstabby [TotalFark] 2008-03-14 06:30:12 PM
I never got into Pod because it seemed so slow, but Last Splash gives me hope for their future.

She sure does (new window), and I love it.

Beats the hell out of listening to Sheryl Crow try to sing "If it makes you happy" makes me gag.
