Got to pay for this war somehow. SOoner or later. If The current administration had cut spending the taxes would not be going back up.

imagine that... trying to spend real money instead of the pretend money republicans think we have lying around.

Great job in an election year. They just know how to give it all away!

I'd rather be a tax & spend liberal than a borrow & spend neocon.

Taxes are patriotic. I am happy to contribute to be part of a society.

Got to pay for one unnecessary war and reduce massive national debt somehow.

/Who do you all think was going to pay for those tax cuts?
//My grandkids?

When the previous administration spends three trillion dollars on a useless war how else do you expect the government to pay the bills? Hold a bake sale?

Cog: The successful must be punished so the lazy can buy flat panel TVs.

In what freaking reality do you live in where the successful are being punished? I'm sorry, but having slightly less of a fortune is not a punishment.

valloned [TotalFark] 2008-03-13 09:59:33 PM
Well lookie here... The tab is due and all the neocons are screaming that the democrats are raising taxes. The don't seem to understand that:

We either get our budget out of the red, or the dollar will be worth less than Charmin and our entire economy will collapse thanks to Bush's reckless SPENDING and tax cuts.

I love it. We (the reasonably intelligent in this country) have been telling them (Cog and mouth-breathing idiots that voted for Bush) that the challenge for the next President would be to fix the myriad of mistakes/errors/crimes of the Bush administration, and that we would have to sacrifice and come together as a nation to overcome this reign of terror, yet we STILL get headlines like this.

And so it begins, indeed!

Under both Democratic plans, tax rates would increase by 3 percentage points for each of the 25%, 28% and 33% brackets. At present, the 25% bracket begins at $31,850 for individuals and $63,700 for married couples.

Percentage increase in tax rate for:
25% bracket: 12%
28% bracket: 10.7%
33% bracket: 9.1%

Yay, progressiveness!

you don't pay for tax cuts, you morans.

Cut the waste and let me keep my money. I work my ass off for it.

Why doesn't it ever occur to an of these douchebags to CUT SPENDING?

I think I'll not work the entire year. They can't siphon their cut off money I haven't made.
And no I'm not receiving any government assistance.
With a single income they can only get their paws on 4% of one incomes gross as opposed to getting 20% of 2 incomes gross working full time.

Of course. Isn't it obvious that the only alternative to hugely bloated, corrupt and overcontrolling government is no government at all?

If ANY administration ever voted to lower taxes, the universe as we know it would come to a screeching halt.

pvd021 2008-03-14 01:19:43 AM
God forbid the Democrats are demanding these rich Republicans pay for their war.

And lets not forget the cost of maintaining American infrastructure (roads highways etc) and those American govt workers and their American salaries and rates

Never understood why Republicans think its ok to want to have their cake and eat it too.

Corvus 2008-03-14 01:21:23 AM
Normal people language: Not passing new new tax cuts
Bizarro Universe Republican speak: RAISING YOUR TAXES!

Bush's "Tax Cut and Spend", not so much. What a dumb farking idea that is.

We already did this once today, so I'm not going to rehash my arguments.

I stand by every post that I made in this thread. There are some nice graphs and charts too.

I suppose subby also hates people who actually pay for things rather than simply running up credit card debt with no plan for ever paying it off?

ITT: Re{tards|publicans} try to convince us that cutting taxes will make government revenue go up and "prime the pump" of the economy.

Corvus 2008-03-14 01:27:27 AM
Weird how these Republicans when pretending to be fiscal responsible called these tax cuts "temporary" and they also counted them going up when they made their budgets.

Now all of a sudden they were always supposed to be permanent even though they always used them in their budget projections as going away and they didn't make them permanent.

But the normal GOP rank and file will go insane because they never understand the details.

They just see the word "taxes" and go insane, anything they can do to pass on their debt to their children and other people.

JerkyMeat 2008-03-14 01:28:32 AM
I vote for ending the war, raising taxes, and selling all GOPers into slavery for top dollar.

Aeonic_Blue 2008-03-14 01:30:37 AM
For all you republicans now masquerading as 'libertarians', shut the fark up, you Nancies.

"Whaaaa! Whaaaaa! Don't raise taxes to reduce the national debt! Just cut every government program I personally don't require at this time! fark everyone else! What do you think this is, some sort of country?!"

farking assholes.

You know, if they'd managed to get us the fark out of Iraq first, I wouldn't mind the taxes so much. But this smacks of kicking a (wo)man while he/she is down.

*sigh*

soj4life 2008-03-14 01:34:34 AM
thanks for the fail subby. it isn't voting to raise taxes if you let temp tax breaks expire. it's like saying that best buy just raised prices if they let a sale expire.

Dil Doe: I suppose subby also hates people who actually pay for things rather than simply running up credit card debt with no plan for ever paying it off?

If I'm living beyond my means *as our government currently is*... the correct answer is to cut back... AND start paying off what you owe.

Republicans: I'm going to spend and spend and spend, here, have a tax cut and keep your mouth shut.

Democrats: I'm going to spend and spend and spend as well, screw your tax cut we need more of your money to waste.

Both sides are horrible, yet the sheep on both sides are perfectly happy with their side's answer.

How bout this: CUT farkING SPENDING... reverse the tax cuts, then in the year 9000 or whenever the government breaks even, the government can work on keeping a 0 balance. Instead of collecting a "surplus" (read: money of OURS that they haven't found a way to spend yet), or running a deficit, we'd actually be somewhere for a change.

Maybe when we're done paying off this multi-trillion dollar war we have going, mkay?

Cog - It's amazing how affordable the worthless toys you mentioned are compared to college or decent medical care.

adjmcloon: Why doesn't it ever occur to an of these douchebags to CUT SPENDING?

Uh, those 'entitlement' programs make up about 3-4 percent of the budget.

The only thing that would be a significant cut would be social security, medicare and the military.

BTW, without SS, grandparents would be stuck living with their children still.

Oh, and pensions don't always work (remember Enron? World Com? Tyco?)

Shaggy_C 2008-03-14 01:39:42 AM

Surely you jest. Anarchy is NOT the only alternative to politics-as-usual. I mean, instead of pure anarchy we could all live in anarcho-syndicalist communes! Or something.

As fer the tax un-cuts: money for all the recent Federal Bullshiat had to come from somewhere eventually. This probably isn't even going to begin to make a dent, but they should do it anyway. Maybe they'll manage not to spend all of it on stupid crap while China still half owns us.

rosebud_the_sled 2008-03-14 01:41:47 AM
Gosh, I know how we can cut taxes and raise revenue!

First, decriminalize weed. Second, tie the defense budget to the aggregate level of the next three nations (that would probably reduce spending by 50%). Third, finally tax the groups that have been leaching off the public tit for too long - like churches.

Problem solved.

BTW: subby, getting rid of the tax cuts is not raising taxes as much as it's reducing the debt chimpy placed on our kids - like the coward he is. Maybe he could raise revenues by having his crack-whore daughters turning tricks for $5K/hour.

spamdog: I love the silence.

I got to argue with a guy today who said that Paygo is a bad idea because: more and more people are receiving some aid from the government. when taxes become a wealth distribution tool instead of a supporting basic functions of government tool, like it is now, you get a population that a political party has to pander to. promising more and more to them. they can raise taxes on the rich and give to the poor because it feels good and they use government as their charity. its a good way to divide the nation in terms of classes.

Let's just say after the verbal beatdown, the Fark 'conservatives' are a little disheartened on this issue.

What I cant wait to see is some real totals on what Shrub cost the US, I dont know if they have invented numbers that large yet.

Oh, but its the 'libtards' fault...
