(Politico) Obvious Hillary and Barack agree to an April 16th debate in Philadelphia, but Hillary rejects a proposed debate in North Carolina. This is no surprise, because NC is not part of the United States That Matter   (politico.com) divider line 75

Surely, Hillary did not stupidly agree to a debate on April 16.

April 16. The day after April 15. April 15. The day upon which taxes are owed to the federal and state governments.

This is an instant transparency issue for Barack Obama. $20 says she still hasn't released her tax returns, and he releases his on April 15/16 for all to see. Then he basically beats her over the head with it.

He released his already. And yes, this was a very bad decision on her part unless she really will have them out by then and they really don't have anything to hide. But what are the odds of that?

I imagine it's lose/lose for her on the tax issue either way. If she releases them before hand and has nothing to hide, well they will question why she didn't release them earlier. She winds up looking like she wants to hide even innocent information from the public. If she releases them and there is suspicious looking stuff in them, they nail her on that. The reasons there should be obvious. If she doesn't release them, well she gets hit again.

Waiting so long to release her tax returns has made this a bad situation all around for her. Unless of course the MSM overlooks the whole issue, which isn't entirely unlikely. If I were Hillary and there was evil crap in my returns, I'd throw a baby down a well and release them while the media was distracted.

If anyone thinks that hilldog would agree to this without a plan of attack, or a plan of defense, whichever the case may be, they have no idea of the sneakiness of her whole clan.
I am waiting to see what kindof "kitchen sink" the hilldog will release to the media so that everyone can chew on something real negative about Barry before this debate.
Obama is a class act, and keeps suprising me more and more the way he is handling this slime.

If she doesn't agree to the April 19th CBS debate, people need to start hammering her on why she's refusing to do a debate moderated by the first female solo news anchor on network television. Is she trying to keep Katie Couric down?

Better yet, she'll wait until Obama attacks her and then go into a whole "see, he promised to let off the personal attacks and he's a LIAR!" The Ferraro approach. I have little doubt that the press will simply ignore Hillary not releasing them, blast Obama for not blasting her, wait until he actually says something, and parrot Hillary's comments about Obama's personal attacks. Been a pretty consistent pattern this campaign season.

I'd say the hell with Ferraro. It's a damaging enough blow, with damaging enough media coverage, to where Obama can just focus on McCain and let Hillary twist in the wind until she deals with it. He doesn't have to say a word about it.

Debates are good for Clinton because she pisses money down the drain like most hobos guzzle alcohol, and she needs the free platform to get her message out when the media is incapable of goring her.

Debates are good for Obama because he mops the floor with her due to the fact he's able to remain levelheaded no matter how shrill she gets, which costs Hillary support and votes.

Seems that there's been a few issues that have arose since the last round of debates that could make a fresh exchange worthwhile. Unless of course the first question is about Healthcare, and Hillary again spends 45 minutes arguing the razor-thin difference between their proposals which apparently must be fought to the death, since that's her signature issue and all.

And she's an idiot for not agreeing to any debate she can get at this point. Unless the idea is that she would be working on the tax returns well into the night of the 15th, and can't release them until the PA debate has started. I bet the plan is to file for a last-minute extension. ("Sorry America, I didn't have a Schedule E at home, maybe I can release my returns in July")

funny...I was reading an AP story a few hours ago that was bashing him for not releasing all of his earmarks from when he was a state senator.

according to the article he is a hypocrite for only having 80-90% of what they asked for but Hillary not releasing any was only about 2 sentences in the article.

the media wont do a damn thing to help in any way

Great headline.

As for dissing Katie Couric - you know that if she was not a white woman she wouldn't be in this position. And if she was a man (of any color) she would not be in this position. She happens to be very lucky to be who she is.
And the country is caught up in the concept.

I think she's setting him up for a one-liner in a debate just to get a few more votes in the state of Pennsylvania, because that's about all she has. Of course, the MSM will eat it up, as will the undecided white folk in Pennsyltucky.

However, if after the fact, someone actually took the time to investigate some of the money the Clintons have received in the past decade... there may be some 'splaining to do. But even if that happens, the MSM won't care.

When Obama won Iowa, the Clinton campaign said it's not the number of states you win, it's "a contest for delegates."

When Obama won a significant lead in delegates, they said it's really about which states you win.

When Obama won South Carolina, they discounted the votes of African-Americans.

When Obama won predominantly white, rural states like Idaho, Utah, and Nebraska, they said those didn't count because they won't be competitive in the general election.

When Obama won in Washington State, Wisconsin, and Missouri -- general election battlegrounds where polls show Barack is a stronger candidate against John McCain -- the Clinton campaign attacked those voters as "latte-sipping" elitists.

And now that Obama has won more than twice as many states, the Clinton spin is that only certain states really count.

But the facts are clear.

For all their attempts to discount, distract, and distort, Obama has won more delegates, more states, and more votes.

Meanwhile, more than half of the votes that Senator Clinton has won so far have come from just five states. And in four of these five states, polls show that Barack would be a stronger general election candidate against McCain than Clinton.

Well, the fact is that NC is the second or third most corrupt state in the nation (behind Illinois and New Jersey, and we're gaining fast on NJ) and it takes time to set up bribes and such. Plus our politicians have a remarkable degree of Southern efficiency and Northern charm.

Our gov just got caught with his pants down on a mental health "reform" effort that ended up with $400 million missing and 80 suspicious deaths within the state system. He denied being involved but didn't think to erase all those emails about the situation. When the local papers printed copies of the emails, he responded by issuing an executive decree that allows state employees to circumvent the state's open records law and delete emails at will.

And don't get me started on the turkey farm that is the DOT/DMV.

Clinton probably thought she had NC sewed up and hasn't spent a dime here, either for ads or buying politicians. Obama has done well, grabbing up endorsements and getting the usual felatiobama from the state news orgs. She's too far behind to start buying off people now.

Couldn't agree more. I work in NYC and NC, but primarily live down here in Wilmington, where I've spent most of the last 20+ years.

Our state government is deplorable. Governor Diseasley has breeded a culture of corruption that has spread far and wide, although I don't blame him for all of it. I have to believe aslo that New Hanover County is probably one of the most corrupt counties in all of America. Our democratically elected Sherriff Sid Causey has publicly stated that he doesn't agree that he is subject to public scrutiny simply because he's an elected official. He's told the taxpayers to STFU and DIAF in more ways than one, uses public resources openly for his own private interests, shows up at all town functions with armed gestapo in tow ready to arrest any vocal dissenters, and God only knows what else.

Wilmingburgh? Yep, I've lived there and still visit often - have tons of relatives and friends in town and at Wrightsville. It is a seriously farked-up place.

You forgot to mention Mayor Saffo's election campaign: "Elect me, I'm white!" And the incident where Causey sent a SWAT team to arrest a UNCW kid and ended up blowing him away. They've already paid out $2.5 million on that little affair, and the family filed civil suit papers yesterday.

The rampant overdevelopment in the Masonboro Sound area has lead to frequent breaks in the sewer lines, ending up with millions of gallons of untreated sewage being pumped into public waterways. Did the city/county fix the lines? Did they slow down the development? Nope. They just continue to put band-aids on the sewer lines and approving more sub-developments.

The place is so crooked that even the local Nature Conservancy was caught selling off wetlands they had been donated, and using the money to buy prime building lots that were then bought by Conservancy officials (at reduced rates) for retirement homes.

It's a swinging place, I tell ya. North Carolina, the new New Jersay!

Geez - thanks for depressing me. I tried to skirt over all of the messy details because I'm so ashamed of my local government; but every issue you mentioned is 100% unadulterated fact.

The Peyton Strickland case still sends shivers down my spine. The cops respond to a call about a stolen PS3, knock on the kids door, hear him inside fumbling around, make a quick decision that it has to be him in their loading a farking hand cannon to defend his PS3 to the death against an army of cops waiting outside, and so the lead officer starts firing a farking barrage through the kid's front door without any evidence, visual, or any other proof that he was doing anything other than zipping up his pants after choking the chicken. Pieces of Mr. Strickland are probably still there. Farking monsters. Again, this was Sid Causey's doing. This is business as usal to him. We are but his little pawns all guilty of crimes we haven't even committed yet, and deserve to die in advance to save him the inconvenience later.

Is there anything on a federal level that can be done? This place makes Copland look like Mayberry.
