In all those online political candidate quizzes, he and Kucinich are always my top two.

What happened to you Gravel? You used to be cool weirdly compelling.

Hey wait, I thought the Greens were running Crazy Cop-punchin' McKinney for president this year. What happened?

Not to be a stickler for accuracy, but there won't be an official Green candidate until their convention in June.

Jesse Johnson will face tough competition from Cynthia McKinney.

..also, doesn't Gravel kinda look like one of the guys the Onion uses for their "what do you think?" segment?

She's running against a couple other people for the nomination, I believe. The libertarians have been having primaries as well.

Really? Why haven't such highly contested primaries been in the news?

Mike Gravel is the manifestation of the underlying and unifying intentionality that fills quantum interstices and allows experiences to be shared.

I'm gonna need a bigger bumper sticker.

It's not a two-party scam system. The voters vote for Democrats and Republicans, even the ones who would vote for a third party, but they create the fabrication of the wasted vote. It's pretty hard to change a system when the voters are the ones responsible for the mess. It would be stupid for either party to change things when there is no need. This logic also works within the two parties ("we'll do what we want because you are going to vote for us anyway.")

Or "You keep voting for us, so I guess we're doing it right."

Don't forget all of the state laws pushed through by both the Democratic and Republican parties that make it nearly impossible for third party candidates to actually get their names on voting ballots. Yes, voters are responsible for educating themselves about how many people are actually running, but it doesn't help that there are so many restrictions for third party candidates for actually getting on the ballot in many states. The Democratic and Republican parties realized long ago that it would be much easier for them to keep a monopoly in government if they passed complicated laws with tons of bureaucratic restrictions that prevented third party candidates with little money from running.

If the United States had an Instant Runoff Voting system like Australia, this wouldn't be a problem. Under the current American system, the voters are forced to vote for the lesser of two evils or have their vote not count at all. They are making the rational choice in an irrational system.
