To paraphrase a TPM poster-

Want to xerox some of that change, Hillary?

The Clintons do not release documents, they shred them.

To be fair they released an awful lot of documents to Sandy Berger.

Hillary still hasn't released her meeting notes from her first health care plan. she had Bill slap a top secret clearance on HEALTH CARE meetings!

That woman won't release anything to the public. she's morally opposed to information being free.

Obama Requested $62 million For The Stratospheric Observatory For Infrared Astronomy Project. In 2006, Obama requested $62 million for the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy to support its Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy project. The SOFIA is a 747 extensively modified to carry a 50,000-pound, 2.5-meter infrared telescope provided by Germany. SOFIA will fly at altitudes up to 45,000 feet - above 99% of the Earth's water vapor - to capture infrared images not possible by even the largest ground-based telescopes. NASA selected USRA in 1996 to develop and operate SOFIA to replace the .91-meter Kuiper Airborne Observatory, a C-141 that flew successfully for over 20 years. Since then, SOFIA has progressed steadily through key milestones: delivery of the German-built telescope in 2002; installation of the telescope into the aircraft in 2003; structural testing of the aircraft and initial ground-bused testing of' the telescope in 2004; and completion of the first-flight configuration of the NASA telescope cavity door in 2005. SOFIA is in the final phase of the Heavy Maintenance Visit, final ground testing and FAA verifications. Initial flight tests are scheduled for the latter part of 2006, depending on finding. After flight testing and functional testing of the telescope and cavity door, SOFIA will be operated at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. [Obama Request Letter To The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, 4/6/06]

I just quickly look over the list, and it looks like this might be the most expensive item. Whats kind of weird is I don't see any relation to Illinois.

It's interesting, now that I think about it, that one of Obama's main focuses is transparency and now we're able to see right through Hillary.

A glance at the list shows more or less what you'd expect: Worthy-sounding local micro-projects like the Asian Carp Barrier in Romeoville and the Get The Lead Out Program In Peoria.

Read that as Asian Crap Barrier.

DarnoKonrad 2008-03-13 07:06:09 PM
Well I for one can't wait until McCain lauds the fact he didn't fund Asian Carp Barriers or Get The Lead Out Programs.

Great strategy. Keep showing how secretive she is. This country is sick of all the secrecy from Bush & Co. over the last 7 years.

And the best part is this isn't attacking her. He is simply doing what we should expect of our elected officials.

This was my favorite for some reason:

Obama Requested $5 Million And Helped Secure $3.5 Million For The Fuel Cells for Mobile Robotic Systems Project At Chicago State University. In 2005, Obama requested $5 Million and helped secure $3.5 Million for the Fuel Cells for Mobile Robotic Systems Project at Chicago State University. The project aims to develop a fuel cell technology system that will power mobile robotics systems in the defense arena, including UAVs, UGVs, airships, and other robotic vehicles. The developed technology would have the capability to provide safe, cost-effective, and energy efficient power sources for mobile robotics systems. McCain puts his *in* the budget. Big deal. Earmarks are a stupid practice that should be discontinued, but don't confuse them with 'pork barrel' spending -- However, neither of which are even a fraction of Government spending.

The media isn't being biased. He just doesn't have a wealth of failure to report on.

fosborb: What's weirder is that the only government program Obama has talked about cutting (as far as I know) is NASA.

To be fair, Obama's position is not to simply "cut" NASA, but to focus less on the expensive, dangerous and mostly wasteful 1980s shuttle program and to put more emphasis on more affordable and scientifically fruitful unmanned space missions. This tends to be the nerd/wonk position.
