I always wondered why it was Leafs and not Leaves?

Oh and a 800 pound goalie and the game is finished.

/dont bother, I already read what you are about to link.

I didn't recognize Gordie when this was on TV.

Mostly because it wasn't cranked to 130-dB.

Big Sugar used to kick ass!! You should check out Gordie's new band Grady, they rock!

Gordie is badass. I fondly remember seeing Big Sugar play in the 90s.

Okay, why did he bring the 12-string if he wasn't going to play it? "Look at me, I got a Gibson double-neck just like Jimmy Page!" Moran.

/Here's how you play a national anthem you click, it pops
//and he only needed one neck

Slash did a pretty good job of this at a Jays game last year.

Grady is great, but Big Sugar still one of my favs. Nice big fat guitar sound. Also, the lead singer of Grady is from here in Winnipeg, he used to sing for the watchmen.(also a great band.)

/better get used to it, Baby!

Gordie hangs out with Chris and Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes and has sat in with both of them a bunch. Always fun when Gordie is around.

You don't use irregular plurals when it's a proper noun.

For example a family with the last name of Wolf would call themselves the Wolfs not the Wolves.

Second place. Randy Bachman at Sarstock in 2003 holds the title.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the big maple leaf on the back of the guitar back that he proudly displays at the end of the video.

very cool. obviously no Hendix (or even Satriani) but pretty spiffy nonetheless.
our fat guy in Vancouver makes the crowd sing it for him.

I'd like to hear Colin James take a crack at it.

Wrong. In fact the Watchmen were a terrible band and every song of theirs made me claw desperately at my face and ears. So as okay as Big Sugar was I can never listen to Grady.

Um, fail. The lead singer of Grady is Gordie 'Grady' Johnson.

I guess I'm the only one that thought this rendition of "O Canada" sucked.

Gordie's a hell of a recording engineer, too. I had the pleasure of working with him and Warren Haynes on a Taj Mahal recording. He's cool like the underside of your pillow.

Oddly enough, I just saw Gordie yesterday at the Motorhead concert in Austin Tx south by southwest show. Have seen grady several times live and they do rip up the floor boards!

Um, couple of things right, couple of things wrong.

1) Gordie is from Winnipeg (St. Boniface to be exact) but has never been in the Watchmen (from Winnipeg). Ever.
2) Gordie is the singer for Grady, not Daniel Greaves (of the Watchmen).
3) The Watchmen are only mediocre at best... Nice guys, but pretty clichéed music.

Also, he always plays the Canadian National Anthem on his Red Gibson EDS-1275 for the simple fact that the flag is on the back. Usually in concerts as Big Sugar, he tied it in between songs that used both necks, hence why that guitar is used, instead of a single neck SG.

Plus the man is an awesome guy, friendly to talk to and loves interacting with the fans.

Martin Tielli is still the king of Canadian double-neck rockin', but Gordie sure gives him a run for his money here.
