Atypical Person Reading Fark [TotalFark] 2008-03-12 10:03:43 PM
Nice use of apostrophe.

Really.

El Freak [TotalFark] 2008-03-12 10:03:59 PM
FTA:She later again told police: "I mean, who doesn't like Bruce Springsteen?"

People with hearing, perhaps?

Feel_the_velvet 2008-03-12 10:34:27 PM
The oddest thing about this story is that it happened outside of the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Kenny B [TotalFark] 2008-03-12 10:48:35 PM
Glad my wife isn't a Springsteen fan. I think he sucks.

Ducking.

chakalakasp [TotalFark] 2008-03-12 11:23:43 PM
Man, if only the boyfriend were Tony Danza, this would be the greatest headline ever.

strangeguitar 2008-03-12 11:24:54 PM
Sounds reasonable to me.

robsul82 [TotalFark] 2008-03-12 11:31:23 PM
This story DIDN'T take place in New Jersey?

rbaron71 [TotalFark] 2008-03-12 11:35:59 PM
Which CD was it? If it was Darkness on the Edge of Town, she was completely reasonable in her action.

I had to introduce my fiancee to Springsteen. Thank God she's caught on.

DaSwankOne 2008-03-12 11:37:05 PM
What they left out is that he said that Rush rocked harder. I would say he deserved it.

El Freak: People with hearing, perhaps?

I swore I would never use the most stupid of Fark memes, "this", but in this case...

this.

I guess she'll have to stab me as well.

I would understand if it were NEBRASKA.

Otherwise, not.

note to farkers; get new bottle of hand lotion, go back to mom's basement, put on Rush cd. Or REM . Or any band you like , as they suck.

chakalakasp: Man, if only the boyfriend were Tony Danza, this would be the greatest headline ever.

I just creamed my pants at the thought of Tony Danza being stabbed.

Maybe if Alyssa Milano was the one doing the stabbing... and then she let me "stab" her....

/I'll be in my bunk

I wasted three hours of my life and about $50 to hear a shaitty concert by Springsteen back in 2000, the sound system sucked and all he did was sit on a farkin' stool and suck. Hated him ever since, where was the legendary concert I had been hearing about? It turns out he only exerts himself for the TV now.

/fark him, fark him all up

The judge reduced it to manslaughter because, c'mon, who doesn't like Springsteen?

Honestly, I could understand if it was rap. Definitely reduced sentence if country, even.

Not trying to troll, but I may be succeeding...

She did not intend to kill him, and yet she stabbed him in the aorta?

So if you never take, or if you fail, A/P courses you can avoid a murder sentance?

8 years is all? I am sure that they had other issues, but I do not like the idea of housing a-holes in (A's are gonna )P(her)ITA because she did a bad thing. Can't we call it even and eliminate all traces of them and their family.

Of course I am joking. Of course...

I am trying to be the guy you know and love. I am listening to Pet Sounds in Mono for christ sakes, but come on...
Of course this is fark so I must add:

Free mustache rides for attractive femaies!!

Sorry gramms, but you KNOW wher the aorta is!!!

Gyrfalcon [TotalFark] 2008-03-13 01:50:02 AM
But why did it take so long? Springsteen's been all downhill since "Born in the USA" and that was 20 years ago.

Parasitic_Spin [TotalFark] 2008-03-13 01:50:23 AM
It ought to be easy ought to be simple enough
Man meets woman and they fall in love
But the house is haunted and the ride gets rough
And she stabs the shiat out of your aorta soon enough
Gotta ride down baby into this tunnel of love

Necrosis 2008-03-13 02:06:10 AM
I tried to come up with an Eagles/The Dude joke, but failed.

Only 8 years? Time to get killin'. "Oops, accident!"

I'm not the biggest Springsteen fan in the world, but his debut was incredible.

Indeed. Likewise The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle. I've always very much preferred David Sancious on the first two albums to anything Roy Bittan's ever done. Also thought Springsteen got locked too much into putting out more anthemic songs after those first two, which became a bit tedious to my ears anyway.

We come home early burning, burning in some fire fight

Setting me up just to stab-a stab-a stab-a me down

The solo tours weren't that impressive, but there's nothing like seeing him with the full band behind him.

The screen door slams
Mary' dress waves
Like a vision she dances across the porch
As the radio plays
Bruce Springsteen singing "I'm On Fire"
That's when things start to get dire
Don't turn that on again
I will stab you in the face again

musicky: I'm not the biggest Springsteen fan in the world, but his debut was incredible.

I am a fan, and you're wrong. The "Greetings from Ashbury Park, NJ" was a gold-painted turd. The only decent track was Blinded by the Light -- the rest was Vogon poetry. Viz:

"he lays down on the ground holdin' his leg and screamin' somethin' in spanish ... still breathin' when I walked away;"

"hey kid, you think that's oil? man, that ain't oil, that's blood;"

"the angel rides with hunchback children."

Jesus...

Now, The River, on the otherhand, was a masterpiece album.

Is this the album that the boyfriend wanted to listen to instead?

shift_DAWG 2008-03-13 11:16:58 AM
Heh. I missed this subtle gem on the first read-through of the article:

"I'm 49 years old and I want to play my own music."

In the Supreme Courty in Brisbane today, Cooper, 50, was jailed for eight years.

I'll give you that "The Angel" is crappy and overwrought, and I'll even through in "Mary, Queen of Arkansas" to boot.

But you can't rip on "Lost in the Flood" -- that's some good shiat. (Well, except that he rhymes "point" with "point," but that's nitpicking.) No, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but very little on Bruce's first few albums did. The imagery in the second and third verses is pretty vivid, and even the first verse has some good lines in it: "Nuns run bald through Vatican halls, pregnant, pleading Immaculate Conception" -- that's a neat little line, and even better when it's sung. And I love the tempo shift and key change at the end of "Does This Bus Stop on 82d Street" that flows right into "Flood" -- some great album sequencing there.

If I had to pick, I'd take "The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle" over all of his other albums, but "Greetings" would be a close second. "Growing Up," "Spirit in the Night" and "Saint in the City" are all really good songs.
