Did Roger write something new, or let them use "Each Small Candle" or something?

Sounds like a terrific album, regardless.

the best music comes out in times of war or bad economy. nothing bad was going on in the late 90's and we ended up w/ the backstreet boys and nsync. maybe this war thing isn't all bad after all

Canuck Eh: tracklisting...

Wow... only one artist I actually HATE on the whole thing!

Bruce Springsteen, in case you're wondering. He annoys the crap outta me. Him and Elvis.

Okay...

You're a nasty doodoohead, and I hope your favorite band does a duets album with Barry Manilow, Boy George, and the rotting corpse of Liberace!

Sincerely,

Springsteen peaked halfway through his debut, IMO. Not to totally dismiss the rest of his stuff or anything.

/"The Angel" FTW

Wow! You're right. Much better for them to do nothing whatsoever.

Politics aside, I read the tracklist and almost puked.

Tori Amos, Lupe Fiasco, and Tom Waits do not belong together. At all.

Immortal Technique? Really? That's pretty ballsy. That said, I will personally end the war and all war forever if America executes Eddie Vedder.

deevo 2008-03-11 09:04:19 PM
this is the third time this article has run, about songs that (with the exception of one) are all five, ten, twenty, fourty-five years old. What's such great news?

THIS.

Why ANY ONE cares what these people think about the war is beyond me; you want to discuss it as a fellow citizen, fine. But to use the mass media to spread propaganda and anti-war agenda is so last century as to be laughable.

I barely see a college graduate on the list and Professor Cornell West is well known for shakey methods of research, which is why he left his last position.

Derwood 2008-03-11 11:10:48 PM
Neil Young should have contributed "Shock and Awe" instead of "The Restless consumer"

Sounds like you proved his point, we were at odds with the middle east then as well and most of the songs you posted are better than 98% of the chart toppers during the mid-late 90s. Remember very few alternative bands had any chart toppers in their career.

Rev. Skarekroe: Boritom: Did Roger write something new, or let them use "Each Small Candle" or something?

"To Kill The Child," previously released as an iTunes single. I was also hoping for a new Rage... track, but no.

Actually they're probably referring to 'Leaving Beirut'(Awesome song, especially live. Been playing it on his DSOTM tour) cause of the references to GWB and Tony Blair(among other reference):

Oh George! Oh George!
That Texas education must have farked you up when you were very small

Not in my name, Tony, you great war leader you
Terror is still terror, whosoever gets to frame the rules
History's not written by the vanquished or the damned

sforce 2008-03-12 02:19:22 AM
Yah. So maybe next time I'll reply AFTER I look at the track listing and article. To Kill The Child works as well but for Iraq I'd of picked Leaving Beirut. Sorry 'bout that.

They do it because they are inspired to do so. And because they have the freedom to do so. The very freedom our people are over there fighting to protect! Freeeeeeedom!

Just think how much they would suck if they didn't have anything to biatch about! They need war more than anyone else.

Did anyone notice it's the 21st century? What are all these cavemen doing still banging their drums thinking they somehow mean more than shiat because they won't let the past be the past? Every day with these freaks is an obsessive, unrelenting attempt to focus on the modern world through the myopic lenses of their irrelevant past.

That generation will just not let us youth alone, they keep forcing their shiat onto us, including their problems and all the guilt we never deserved to know.

Can "Devils & Dust" be considered an anti-war song? It really just paints the picture of a soldier at war.

Should have Eddie Vedder and Mike McCreedy doing Masters of War at the Bob Dylan tribute with G.E. smith back in '92
