I never jumped on the Justice bandwagon, but I liked it. They did something different and interesting there. Besides, unless it's Daft Punk most electronic music is boring as shiat to watch live.

el_loco_avs 2008-03-11 06:40:14 AM
heh. I think i'd rather see this then just them with the Big Cross on stage like usual.

But it's more about the dancing anyways.

I have this MP3 and I had no idea that's what they looked like. Actual instruments and everything (I'm assuming they're playing them).

Count-Blah 2008-03-11 12:03:15 PM
darkyn I hope you're kidding.. the actually group is the two guys who tune the radio at the start. The actors are just so that there's something to watch on TV better than their current live show (play with ableton live behind fake marshall stacks and unused synthersizer.com modular system, smoke cigarettes, pump fists)

/seen them live 3 times

Awww, did someone realize their song wasn't as compelling or interesting without their video playing along with it? Poor things.

Count-Blah: I hope you're kidding.

I am not; no idea who the actual musicians were/are. I guess that's what happens when you get your new music from Internet radio.

I'm pretty sure that they prepare the music beforehand, and they're actually just sending each other lolcats over MSN.

seriously, wut.
Do you hear electronic music, imagine them at a laptop, and suddenly get bored?

If it's a video - music video, late night performance, or six-month-old youtube link on Fark - they're going to need to merge audio and visual presentations. How does this speak on the musical quality of the song itself?

Sorry, but I think this song is a forgettable piece of bubble gum. It's a relatively catchy tune but, beyond that, without the video (which is awesome) it wouldn't even constitute a blip on my pop culture radar.

I'm not opposed to electronic music. Maybe they have other songs I'd actually like, but this ain't one of them.

That's kind of a fun performance concept, but the music sucked unbearably. Worst synthetic 'slap bass' I've ever heard and damn, how hard is it to find a singer that can stay in key these days? Couldn't they at least Autotune that painful caterwauling?

congratulations for completely missing the entire point of the song. if you listened to more than dream theater and rush, you might understand that this song is an homage to the kid soul groups of the 70s and 80s. it sounds that way on purpose.

I really don't like the song, but I have to give them credit for the creativity of the presentation. The actual video is one of the best from last year.

I saw this when it first aired. I insisted to my friend that it was Barry Manilow, not Rod Stewert. He later agreed with me.

I'm classical-thread.

Since when does being nominated for/winning a Grammy mean anything as far as quality of music is concerned? (See: Oscars)

Also, what credentials do critics have, other than already having a job?

/I just happen to hate all those singers
//plus the one from this video

OK, never heard of these guys either. But the song sounds like it's sung by the same kid who sang "Pass the Dutchie"... seems more like it should be on Sesame Street, not Kimmel.

The MSTRKRFT remix of D.A.N.C.E. is way better than the original, imho: Link (new window)

This video re-edit is still a little slow. The actual MSTRKRFT track is bumpin'.

Gestalt 2008-03-12 02:11:38 PM
There are songs I enjoy being able to dance to while not liking the song itself. This is one of them, "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" is another.

I don't get the huge success of Justice, Pitchfork was fellating "Waters of Nazareth" 2 years ago. MSTRKRFT and Digitalism, as mentioned earlier, are a lot better...

MikoSquiz 2008-03-12 04:47:55 PM

Funnily enough, I loathe Dream Theater and love the stuff this song's imitating. (Jury's out on Rush) The problem here is that these guys don't know 70s kid soul from a smelly rectal cavity, and have the musical talent of lint.
