I think Paul is still mad about the "Apple" name. Would LMAO if he went with Rhapsody. Better still...no downloadable Beatles. Ever.

Think of all those poor souls having to rip the music from the CDs that they bought to replace their cassettes that they bought to replace their 8-tracks which they bought to replace their vinyl, instead of having the option to download it at $0.99 a song. Why does this story keep making news?

Every time there's a story about this I just laugh a little at how stupid the powers that be involved with this are.

I mean, it's not like people who would buy the MP3's could do a little research and figure out how to get them somewhere for free.

You underestimate the casual iTunes shopper. Album sales make up a very small percentage of iTunes downloads - the vast majority of downloads are singles. The Top Downloads list on iTunes pretty much mirrors the Billboard Hot 100, which is comprised of songs you have to work hard not to hear. So clearly, most of iTunes purchases are from people who crave instant gratification.

The Beatles had a stupidly high number of hits. They had 27 #1 songs, and dozens more that charted slightly below. The Beatles catalogue is going to be a major boon for both Apples, there's no doubt in my mind.

But the Beatles' future catalog...that's still good, right?

Right?

Pontius Gandalf 2008-03-10 11:12:15 PM
Off-subject, but pretty odd: I'm listening to iTunes right now, on shuffle, and the last three songs it played were about circuses or carnivals.

/"Circus" by The Jam
//"Saints" by The Breeders
///Medley #1 from Stay Awake

////Damn it all. Everything but the circus.

It's not like Paul even owns the rights anymore, right?

MJ has them...

(right?)

FTFA "This is not news nor is it a scoop."

Does that mean it's not true? Or does it just mean that it's been rumored for ages, so one more site rumoring it means nothing?

Or you can walk into your nearest second hand cd shop (if they still exist anymore) and buy their entire catalogue for 10 dollars.

As someone who works in a CD store, yes they still exist, and the Beatles catalogue set is about $340, which would be about $250 US.

DAMMIT. now i'm NEVER going to get to hear the beatles.

I wish. Or would when I didn't own it yet.

The only reason I want the Beatles to get on iTunes is so I can get the goddamn album covers so my OCD will go away for a little while. If I had a dollar for every hour I've spent trying to get all the album covers instead of doing real work, I probably wouldn't need to work anymore.

I'm not obsessive about having the album covers (more room for music, of which I'm about to run out), so I'm not sure if this'll work, but have you tried getting them from All Music Guide? (new window)

Nelson-
1. Open up iTunes music folder.
2. Sort by album name Holding shift key, select all the songs from the album (i.e. all the tunes on Revolver).
3. Open up Amazon.com on your web browser. Search for Revolver album. Click on "show larger image" for the cover.
4. Drag image from browser onto the "Image Not Found" box at the bottom left of iTunes.
5. Enjoy!

Ex-Beatle Sir Paul MCCartney was allegedly planning to release the Fab Four's entire collection of songs and albums onto the music website in the coming months, to counter a hefty divorce payout to former wife Heather Mills...could reportedly walk away with $120 million (GBP60 million) of the singer's estimated $1.65 billion (GBP825 million) personal fortune

Uhh....Paul, you're old. Trust me when I say the billion and half that will be left, after the settlement, will hold you until you're dead.
