ok, so someone can potentially see me naked.

Um.... so what? Seriously, why is everyone so bothered all the time about nudity?

Although it can see objects under clothes, its designers say the images do not show anatomical details.

You know.... if they could take a picture of me at the airport and let me go on my way rather than being frisked, having to go back and forth through the overly sensitive metal detector (the rivets in my Levi's set the farking things off), and then wait 15 minutes while Tourist Bob yells at a TSA guy for not letting him through with his new MLK Freedom Fire Lighter he bought while he was in town... take my farking picture.

On second thought, perhaps that's too much work for 3 women.

Weak. GIS "ThruVision" for examples of this very low quality British pr0n. US versions are much better.

knucklebreather 2008-03-09 01:37:48 PM
You can sort of do this already with night vision cameras. It only works with one-layer clothing (e.g. bathing suits) and in very bright light (e.g. the beach). But you can certainly see through clothes with that camera in those situations, from a good 50 feet or so.

/I um... heard about it on the Discovery Channel...

skifdank 2008-03-09 01:37:50 PM
PRO TIP: ur cameraphone camera can most likely do the same thing. On very sunny days and with girls wearing thin, white clothing.

1. Hold your TV remote up to your phone's camera.
2. Press a button on the remote, checking to see if your camera picks up the IR light.
3. Buy an IR lense or tape exposed film negative to your camera lense.
4. ?????
5. PROFIT!!

It should be enough that The People are widely against it to preclude the idea as viable. I'm sure there's something in the British statues about government deriving their powers from the consent of the governed.

Ok, seriously, I actually saw a really hawt TSA lady at the airport in Denver while changing flights. I didn't think such a thing existed, but, there she was. I nearly faked a bomb just so she'd have to frisk me and give me a body cavity search. But then I realized that it probably wouldn't work out that way; it'd be some guy named Bubba who'd do that. Ah well, I can dream.

Anyone remember that school that was so paranoid about pedos visiting their site that they covered the kids faces with acid house smileys?

I'd imagine this technology doesn't only work on adults...

So there's your angle for creating outrage against this technology.

For the good of the children its better that this system not be implemented in public locations such as shopping centers etc, right??

When I went to Vietnam, there was a guy at the airport that had this camcorder stand pointing to all the people who walked out of the airplane gates. Upon walking by I noticed the camera was some kind of high tech xray camera. The image was SUPER CLEAR. It looked somewhat like that camera from the movie: Total Recall(Arnold Swart.. and chick with 3 boobs). Anyways, I guess its used to fight heroine drug smugglers.

Was really impressed by this equipment and the fact that it was used in Vietnam, a country where the majority of people can't even afford a Hyundai.

The ZBV Drive-By Screening System(p), which is a version of this system scaled up to the point that it can literally x-ray a house, is already used in 'urban surveillance' by the DHS.

"The system is unobtrusive, as it maintains the outward appearance of an ordinary van."

They were showing this off at ISC West last year. It is fairly limited in that it can see through a single layer of light clothing. It didn't seem to be super effective with thick or dense materials and it's definitely a one layer thing.
