It will restore a lot of the peoples' trust if he was impeached though; the longer he gets away with all this the worse it looks on the country as a whole.

I think Soros would have wanted a Democrat to do this.

Also, are you going to brush this away just because it's from Kos? If so, then here's a link to the Congressman's own website. He's a Republican, so it's gotta be valid in your worldview, and we can get some debate on the substance of his words, right?

Link (new window)

Voting irregularities should guarantee a McCain appointed AG will keep the highest profile Neo-Cons free from prosecution. There will of course need to be a few sacrifices. Should be interesting to see who doesn't have a chair when the music stops.

basemetal: Too little, too late. Bush will be gone before they have a chance to form an exploratory committee to investigate which crimes could have been committed, and a special committee to appoint a special prosecutor, and a committee to..........

The problem with those committees is they get shiat done. Not quickly, but thoroughly, efficiently, and methodically. Canadian politics use something similar - "Royal Commissions" that take years to carefully investigate something.

By the time the detailed analysis is presented to the government, nobody cares in the public anymore so its quietly buried.

And in the leaders great wisdom,(sarcasm), they don't want to dirty the governments reputation, as well as all the congress and senate critters who went along with them, as well as keeping their re-election strong. It's broke and I don't know how to fix it. Could have told you when I was eighteen.

If only every Republican in congress would let his freak flag fly like Roscoe Bartlett, Ron Paul, and this guy does, it'd be a tiny, lonely GOP caucus.

I clicked the link hoping to find a Waco-obsessed GOP nutbar, and I was not let down.

Rohbacher is one of those crazies who just can't accept that a Christian white guy was a terrorist. His "investigation" appears to be an attempt to revise history to make it appear that only Muslims are terrorists.

helix400 2008-03-09 12:35:03 PM
Very interesting. Dana Rohrabacher is furious at the Bush administration because he feels he's being blown off in his conspiracy theory investigation into the OKC bombing.

Unfortunately, I can't find much info this conspiracy theory. Best I've found so far is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing#Conspiracy_theories_involvin g _more_perpetrators

LocalCynic 2008-03-09 12:35:29 PM
Ron Paul Revere: I'm not obsessed with Waco by any means, but to say that there wasn't any malfeasance, nor anything resembling a cover-up, is just plain blindness.

There wasn't a "cover-up" at Waco. The ATF assumed that they were raiding a compound with rational people when really, it was occupied by a bunch of End of Days types who were praying for suicide by cop.

So you don't think the cell phone records (actual physical evidence) could help explain a "enemy of my enemy is my friend" mentality at work?

If that was truly Rohrabacher's motivation, then it flies in the face of his statements about the need to profile Muslims and raid mosques.

The real reasons that Newsmax and WorldNutDaily and wingnuts like Rohrabacher want to try and link al Qaeda to the OKC terrorist attack are that it would "vindicate" right wing extremists, and because such a link would advance their Muslim-bashing political agenda. If such evidence exists, I have absolutely no doubt that GOPers the conservative chattering class would use it to justify repressive acts.

Shvetz 2008-03-09 12:36:56 PM
Sorry, but this will go nowhere. Crap like this came out before he was re-elected. All of a sudden people are going to realize this administration has been less than truthful?

It's too late for impeachment.

I think most of this administration should go up for treason, though - if only for the way they're treating the wounded vets.

helix400 2008-03-09 12:48:06 PM
Haha, I've never heard of Dana Rohrabacher before. He's one colorful and eccentric fellow. I don't know what to make of this guy.

Some highlights: link.

* My favorite of the bunch...he went and fought some Commies in 1988! "After I left the White House and was elected to Congress, but before I was sworn into Congress, I knew I had that two months between November and January to do things that I could never do once I was elected to Congress. I chose to hike into Afghanistan as part of a small Mujahedin unit and to engage in a battle against the Russian and communist forces near and around the city of Jalalabad."
* Rohrabacher decried a guest worker proposal as "the foul odor that's coming out of the United States Senate." He said that if illegal immigrants who do many farm jobs were deported, "the millions of young men who are prisoners around our country can pick the fruits and vegetables. I say, let the prisoners pick the fruits."
* Contrary to most Republican Party Members of Congress, Rohrabacher is a supporter of medicinal use of marijuana.
* Rohrabacher does not believe that the current global warming is manmade. During a congressional hearing on climate change on February 8, 2007, Rohrabacher joked that previous warming cycles may have been caused by carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by "dinosaur flatulence."
* Rohrabacher has been close friends of now-convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff since the mid-1980s.
* Rohrabacher stated that the unfair treatment of one innocent suspect is an acceptable "unfortunate consequence" of holding others who would otherwise be free to commit terror acts. After receiving boos and groans from the gallery, Rohrabacher responded, "Well I hope it's your families, I hope it's your families that suffer the consequences."
* For his comment that imprisoning and torturing one innocent person was a fair price to pay for locking up 50 terrorists who would "go out and plant a bomb and kill 20,000 people," Rohrabacher was named Countdown with Keith Olbermann's "Worst Person in the World" on April 25.

Heh, what an eccentric fellow. I can't believe I've never heard about him until now.

Impeachment can take as little as 2 or 3 days. IF Congress had the balls to do it. Instead, they sanction the Bush administration in all that they do.

CaptainFatass 2008-03-09 01:01:31 PM
Rohrabacher's still a douchebag who decided to go behind the government's back and negotiate with the Taliban on his own.

It's pretty funny, he's portraye as the hip, surfer-dude Congressman, but he's a complete reactionary tool.

While I agree with your sarcasm 100%, you might be surprised by his take on the Bush administration. He's far from being the average pundit, and nowhere near the likes of Coulter.

If you can stomach opinions that differ from yours, I highly suggest his book "The Constitution in Exile." It's quite enlightening and educational.

I Said [TotalFark] 2008-03-09 01:54:00 PM
Ron Paul Revere: You may see some more of it, but don't expect a full-on revolt. They want their boy to win, and an attack on Bush's policies, more often than not, will invariably be seen as attacks on McCain. At least, that's how Republicans will strategize anyway.

I doubt it will be a full-on revolt but they want to win re-election too, and unless there is a big turn-around, attacking Bush might prove to be a good way to do that.

Press briefing, March 6 (new window)

Q Thank you, Dana. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher has made a serious charge against the administration. He pointed out that Ramsey Yousef, who was a top lieutenant of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the architect of 9/11, is in federal prison. He has pretty substantial material suggesting that Mr. Yousef was also involved in the Oklahoma City bombing. Yet he's repeatedly been thwarted in trying to interview him. Now, as I understand the law, and as Congressman Rohrabacher said, a member of Congress can interview any federal prisoner. He said that the White House Counsel's Office, the Justice Department, has continually thwarted him on this. Your response.
